Thanks @billyhill, that should answer ethiopia's questions, I can't remember the ins and outs of Sasha's improvements. I haven't used her much, I found her quite complex. But then I'm quite simple, your mileage may vary!
@ethiopia, let me know if you still want me to post something. There have been three weight mapped V4 versions that I know of, and I made my own variant in the end because none of them suited my needs. Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss more, we may have derailed this thread far enough 🙂February 4, 2022 at 12:09 AM #1773045Well, I hope he does at some point.
More variety is always welcome.

@kusalkin You're welcome. I haven't used Poser in a decade so I'll thank you for perhaps rekindling an old love for the app because I found it more user friendly than DS. The improved version of V4 looks very interesting.
@ethiopia I havn't seen Ero on the net in general for at least 2 years. I know he moved around a lot and I failed to keep up with him. I hope he's back soon.February 4, 2022 at 3:25 AM #1773080Just a few corrections about Ero. Before emigrating to the UK Ero lived in Malawi not SA and had constant problems with electricity supply and being robbed of his equip. I had a kind of guessing comp. with him on AOD about where he lived. I think he was involved in anti-wildlife poaching there. He used to joke about waiting for his malaria relapses each year.... no wonder he left.
February 4, 2022 at 9:03 AM #1773153OT but I really miss the camaraderie of VoD.
February 4, 2022 at 12:06 PM #1773213I wasn't around Vod much as I was away from the scene for a few years during the loss of AoD and VoD starting and then I had a slight falling out with Nightfall when I returned that put a dampener on me wanting to post much there, but I'm still sad it's gone. I still had them both bookmarked up until recently and I miss the level of feedback you'd get, my own 'art' improved a huge amount during the time I was posting and I still find myself muttering 'keep the feet in the frame' under my breath after getting multiple chastisements from Hier about cutting bits of a figure off in renders.
February 4, 2022 at 2:38 PM #1773265@kusalkin yes, you are correct... I do know why I mixed it up through, but it wasn't Sasha I was thinking of - it was the fact that he converted V4's stuff over for use in PE and had a mannequin to do it.
I do know that Ero isn't/wasn't the first Poser/DS guy out of Africa - 3DUniverse (originally Dark Whisper) still lived in SA the last time I spoke with him (though that was around 7 years or so ago?)
@eelgoo , agreed! Variety is a beautiful thing, and with DS' autofit/cloning, it'd be almost trivial to have PE use pretty much any figure's clothing once the shaping is set up.February 4, 2022 at 3:04 PM #1773271Are you guys talking about this Ero? https://www.deviantart.com/search?q=erogenesiscgi
He has been very active on deviantart and sounds like his comics have been selling well on renderotica. The quality is really good. It's probably making him more money than if he were making characters.

I recall Ero telling his audience the rise in violence was the main reason he left Malawi. He did say he was with the anti poaching brigade which makes him a good soul in my eyes.
Thanks for revealing Ero's web residence 🙂
I don't have and can't get a DA account so I'll have to watch from afar 🙁February 4, 2022 at 8:20 PM #1773380@SkippyTheMeh - ".....getting multiple chastisements from Hier about cutting bits of a figure off in renders." He also did the same with me if I chopped off the top of someone's head in a render. [Sometimes I would do it just to get a reaction from him]. I'm still paranoid about doing that to this day because of Hier.
February 4, 2022 at 8:24 PM #1773383In photography that would be referred to as cropping.
It is perfectly legitimate way of focussing attention in a specific area.
Nothing wrong with it, providing it is done with some thought beforehand.

To be fair to Hier, it was more about bad overall framing, where the poster had centred the image on the naughty bits, had badly cropped the figure at render and generally not taken a minute to think about the rest of the scene. Despite being an avid, if very average, amateur photographer at the time, I was guilty of it more than once!
