The sticky for older versions of Studio has not been updated in over two years. Is there any interest anymore? While I know that many folks keep their own previous versions, I thought the idea was to have a repository here of all older versions. Now that Studio 4.22 is serving ads (*Gasp!*), I would think that there'd be an even bigger incentive to do so.
November 1, 2023 at 2:35 PM #2039395I agree. I made the stupid mistake of upgrading today having never had an issue before and suddenly things are not good.
A previously WORKING scene (and I've checked others) no longer works.
Without an HDRI in IRAY preview mode:

With an HDRI in IRAY preview mode:

And now they're pushing ads??
UPDATE - Have tried more HDRIs and found that this only seems to affect the FM HDRIs
November 1, 2023 at 8:21 PM #2039442Where are ads in 4.22? I haven't encountered any yet.
November 1, 2023 at 8:45 PM #2039444@onkelshield probably it's the new scene dialogue box. In trailer, there seems to be ads running besides the dialogue box
I was thinking about updating but seeing so many error posts on daz forum, it's best for everyone to wait a while till they fix the issues.
November 1, 2023 at 8:57 PM #2039445fix the issues
Ha ha ha guffah....ya sure..."fix the issues." This is Daz we're talking about remember? If they could fix anything properly we wouldn't have the problems in the first place.
November 1, 2023 at 10:40 PM #2039496Had no problems so far. Does seem to be much faster with opening images with around 20 models on it in a few minutes.

@Ethiopia - "Ha ha ha guffah....ya sure..."fix the issues." This is Daz we're talking about remember?"
In Daz parlance "...it isn't a bug, it's a feature 😁.November 2, 2023 at 5:19 AM #2039523Honestly, I didn't notice the new scene window yet. And for me it's just two simple clicks, I want an empty scene, so there is that. Not even enough time for the advertisement to properly load and I have the feeling that there will be mods/scripts soon that jump over that and directly create an empty scene.
November 2, 2023 at 7:32 AM #2039529There's a fairly easy way to get around that idiotic new popup dialogue. Remap "New" to Ctrl+Shift+N, and create a new custom action for your template scene. Remap that to Ctrl+N and you're back in business.

Thanks for the link to Daz forum, always funny how they are able to ADD problems and ruin their (already in tatters) reputation. However I would be interested in opinions about the only two really important things to justify a version change : is it "really" faster in asset management (loading stuff and RAM use), is it faster in Iray rendering ? At the moment (according to the thread) asset management seems better but rendering seems worse in 4.22 public. Of course always keep your old versions ! And no mention of DS5 release...November 2, 2023 at 10:08 AM #2039554It does load quicker I think, rendering I can not judge, for I keep changing does settings
November 2, 2023 at 10:18 AM #2039555Lots more bitching in the Daz forums about 4.22. It's fun watching that asshole and corporate shill, Haseltine running around trying to put out fires.
I see lots of people asking for the older versions, which of course Daz won't provide. I sooooo desperately want to let folks know that there are places where you can get the older versions.
I wonder how long THAT post would last?
@hunter Is it possible to include some words in the sites metadata (the stuff that the Googlebot looks at when it crawls the site) mentioning the older versions being archived here? I'm certain that disgruntled folks (mostly non-pirates) are searching for older versions.November 2, 2023 at 12:12 PM #2039580Did some benchmarking for you guys
Do not look at composition an d stuff, just threw in some things to make the load more heavy
Dimensions 1920x1080This took a total of 25 seconds to complete after hitting "RENDER" button

Th next took 4:09 to load, Total Time 7:40 so rendering took 3:21 minutes
November 2, 2023 at 1:47 PM #2039596November 2, 2023 at 2:18 PM #2039602I can't really find where they have listed what the selling points for the new version are.. I just launched one of my machines and it automatically started downloading the update, so I killed it quick. Just wondering if there's some kind of selling point other than getting directed advertisements, like 4.21 had vdb support, seems the Daz thread referenced earlier only discussed a minimal improvement in load times but a lot of other problems. I think I'll pass. Also, is there a specific repository for the older versions in case I need to back out? or just search the blog for a Daz version 4.21 posting etc??
