I wonder if the developers at Daz also play the waiting game ?
Do you think they would use a content folder that contains all those products on their site ?
People like us, that install everything, we play the game.
For figures, the more morphs installed, then the longer the loading time.
So, It makes me wonder if the devs also sit around and play the waiting game ?

Well, if they do, they will know that the next generation should go back to morph injection.

    🙂

Yes, or at least when launching a base figure give us the option to "load all - or inject" morphs.
The Injection way would probably free up lots of ram.
I don't know for sure but I think the morphs get loaded into you ram or something.

I had almost 20000 products installed at one point. Talk about waiting game. I since deleted and install only those I am using. plus what DAZ forced me to install because I got it for free, and if it is not installed, DIM wants to download it again and again and again. (I could hide them in the downloader I suppose.... But I figured 1000 wouldn't hurt that much.)
Now things are super quick again. 🙂

My problem, that forced me to reinstall DAZ and the library recently, is the complete lack of quality control over at DAZ. Which of course leads to logfile-errors, but also leads to assets sometimes not at all working. Which crashes DAZ, and brings me into uncontrollable fits of rage.

Now, the process of installing the needed assets for scenes, again... is also painful. As in holy shit, it's dumb. Listing a shitton of files... but not the actual name of the asset using them. YAY. It takes about a week to get everything working again, _per scene_. It's fucking annoying.

The killer loading time is all the morphs we have installed.

I finally thought WTF am i doing with all these morphs?

I have all these morphs installed, but how many do i really use?

I got my favorite morphs that i use, so why should i sit around waiting for all these morphs to load and eat my ram if i don't use them?

So I recently started a brand new content folder from scratch and installed ONLY things that I always use.

I also have a completely different setup up now.

I still install things onto my bloated content folder to see to see if I like a product or not.

If I like it and its something i can REALLY use then i put it in my other content folder.

If not then it stays where it is.

I also have a few copies of a basic content folder with the base figures and stuff that comes with the standard default installation of daz.

I use one of those to test and experiment things with sol when it gets screwed up i didn't risk my main content folder.
