    Hi all!.
Yesterday, I download this nice hair..

Paloma Hair for Genesis 8 Female

But...· 3Gb!!! for cost in disk, in too much, no?
I make it, exactly the same, in 785 Mb.
And yet, it seems too much.
    How?
    Ah! Nice question.
Sometimes I wonder if the vendors think of something...

LivingPixels, take a look at PM. 🙂
Ah! In DIM format installer, without the templates... (Useless for me..)

rJsMin (in python 3), and gzip... All in linux.

Also, Dsf format (for morphs, geometries, etc..) is in Json =JavaScritpt=Js.
    Read this:

    DUF minifier...

The "base" hair is in dsf, around 96Mb. After "minify", 58Mb...and then, compressed in gzip. Then, for each..No more. 🙂 And the textures...optimized. (Original 580 Mb, now 63Mb..), and the thumbnails in png..(Why a thumbnail in 300Kb if in 44Kb is good? )
But, I need to translate for windows/mac plugin or Daz dsa script.

Templates are useless for DAZ. Unless you're going to create custom UVs or mess with the geometry to create new items (in a separate program like blender), they shouldn't even be in your DAZ folder structure. And with a good set of shaders, you can do tons of UV customization within Studio itself. I haven't installed the templates in a long while. If I ever need them for blender, I'll go back into by hoarder drive and find it.

ulysses, I'm not saying they are not useful, but not for me ... My focus is more animation and programming. Daz is one more resource, but I have never traced a human in Zbrush and those programs. Clothes or hair only interest me in movement: I don't care about color or style.

Well that nice little minifier process of yours would be perfect to use on those Now Crowd Billboard products.
Those products take up a silly amount hard drive storage space.
They have a massive zipped download size that range anywhere from 7 Gig to 15 Gig....

I've never tried that "Now Crowd Billboard" thing. I will test it and expose the results. Thank you, globalrecession2009.

We'll see. I downloaded the "Now Crowd Billboard" Disater "package".! ... The "Now Crowd Billboard" "problem" is not from duf or dsf. They are simply a "few"-LOL- thousand Png ..., and that cannot be done with my method, exclusive for "jscript / dson". There is no choice but to compress ... Sorry. If you look at the folder, they are only PNGs. Like "sprites" in an arcade. It will not be of any use ... If you want to reduce its size, which I do not advise ..., since it is for a reliable render, it is to use a program to reduce resolution, but I do not think it is the most appropriate ... ( only in used textures ...) the "Crownd ..." may lose quality. We must take into account the "quality" of a render. If they are far from the camera, why do we have to do them in high resolution ??? It is a big problem to decide what quality we need. If they are in the background, it is something else: but, how do we decide if one is in the foreground or the other one further away from the focus of the camera ?? !!
I can only recommend a program to windows and try to improve the compression: https://sourceforge.net/projects/icompress/

I have managed to do a gzip on Windows.
But it must be implemented in Windows, be it 32 or 64 bits: It's called Cygwin. At: https://www.cygwin.com/.
It must be added to the windows PATH for it to work. The extensions in the contextual menu are not necessary, you could install a linux in Win10, but it is something unnecessary: It takes up space on the hard disk, in C: ...., and few of you are going to use it ... The command in the typical cmd would be: gzip -rv8 FOLDERNAME. (Always in outside the folder ..., just in the the root of the folder ..., not inside ...)
Gzip does NOT distinguish between files. You can zip up to "grandma's panties". I can't find now how to distinguish a * .png from a * .dsf ..
The problem is that it generates a "foo.dsf" or "foo.duf" such as "foo.dsf.gz", etc ..., as well as if there is a png or jpg image ... so it is best to separate it into folders just the duf and dsf. Gzip is not native to Win (And it is what is used in Daz Studio to decompress / compress, and it has very severe commands: You cannot choose between "these yes and these no ...", if it is not with a script in shell in linux, which Win lacks, although "cygwin" says otherwise. You need to enable "Linux for win", and install a small linux, like Ubuntu, Mint, etc ... I HAVE NEVER TESTED IT.
I have three computers at home: 2 on win (laptop & tower ...) and a laptop with Kali Linux.
But be careful !!! BEWARE !!! Although Daz Studio has its compressor in "" windows / panes / bacth converter ", it is very slow. In the same way as" DSF TOOLBOX ", which, despite being slower, only assumes the duf and dsf formats.
At this point, we are talking only about compressing in gzip, within its system using the "zlib.dll" library.
gzip has commands ... The best thing, after installing Cygwin, is to type in command prompt: "man gzip". "gzip -rv8 FOLDERNAME" means, compress everything recursively (folder and subfolders ..) with the -r .. -v option, it's Verbose: to see how it does it ..., and -8 is the compression level.
By default, gzip uses -6, so if we want to force something else, -the maximum is -9 -,. That is, open a command prompt in any folder, if we type "gzip -rv8 x: Mydazlibray", it will to eat everything. THE METHOD IS DANGEROUS. but very fast. NEVER DO IT WITHOUT SEPARATING FILES duf OR dsf. !!!!
And, always, for important folders, such as "People", "data", "enviromennts" or "props".
This generates, for example, "skirt for gf8.duf / dsf" as "skirt for g8f.duf / dsf.gz". THE .GZ EXTENSION EXCEEDS !!!
To avoid getting into trouble, it is best to use "DSF Toolbox", and go "little by little". Compressing the "data" folder, it may take 12 or more hours ..., so make a copy of all "my daz library" on another disk, and you can go for a walk in the mountains or hills near your city with your partner or family. EYE! DSF TOOLS generates a copy (yes or yes ...), called X.duf_d3d_c0mp. That must be deleted, with a typical command in cmd: del / s / q / f g: \ *. Duf_D3D_C0MP. g: is my external disk: Change of your taste ...
And, any question, don't care ask me.
(And the fucking "rjsmin", rulez in Linux, but no in Win in batch ...)
