I was an idiot and upgraded my DAz studio to the latest a few days ago. I'm not sure where I got the idea that the DIm installer kept the package files in my folder like it does my items so i can roll back if I need to. Long story short: they've broken the (older) products I use to make my comics (again) and I need to roll back. But there are no package files.
So I'm submitting a help ticket and I guess a request for help here through the system? Everything has changed. Agony.
Well, you have the choice of the General Release or the Public Beta.
When I upgrade I always keep the old installations, until I am convinced the new issue is stable for me.
Are you looking to roll back the DS version to a previous one? We used to have many archived older versions available here. It was a stickie iirc. That appears to be gone. If you're a member of the discord, perhaps ask there.
DS 4.15 is still here. It was the latest version I used.
I"m looking to roll back to sku::13176 for starters. I know this string after much agonizing, many tears, and private cursing of the DAZ people. I upgraded to Premier. This is when the trouble began.
I'm not good with discord, I'm afraid. I've tried repeated times. No time. Too much to do. In places like this, the words stay put which is nice. I can find them to read them that way. To think I used to be a constant iirc person.

I as well, but recently I had to restart a download library and got a new old computer. I mistakenly thought DIM was keeping all of my downloads in the folder I designated. Well. It is... but perhaps it isn't. I have pieces of DAZ from october. Pieces from December, etc. Put them all together you have a complete package. They're not complete alone. So that it looks like its deleting the old installation files that got updates. Which has left me paddle-less.
Thank you for the download link. If I can find out how to install that separate so that any upgrades I do won't overwrite I'll give it a shot.
Insert many frustrated curse words here. Why do they have to do this. Roll back isn't a crime. It should be an option.

The data in it is sometimes a little sketchy, but it is better than nothing.🙂

I ended up reviving AcDZ's cameras in a pinch because rolling back didn't help. I genuinely suspect the extra installs from premier broke everything. AoA's cameras were literally working fine until the day I finished installing the extras.
@spearcarrier For the future, know that you can totally rename your DAZ installation folders!!
BEFORE you install a new version, simply rename the folder and then run DIM to install your latest package. It *always* installs to \DAZStudio4 , so renaming avoids this collision, and you can run ANY of them at ANY time! They will all live happily together, and all can communicate flawlessly with the latest PostgreSQL that is installed for DAZ.
Note that when you install your fresh new version, you'll need to copy over the previous version's plugins to the new one. Take care not to overwrite any of the stock plugin dlls already present, just everything else.
Content, layout, etc will all remain as you expect since they are all user AppData.
As you can see, I have done a lot of monkeying with versions, all work "perfectly" (ironic I know, in context :p )
And yes, DIM does NOT "save" your install package... well, yes and no.
What it DOES do, is either delete *local* packages after the assets are installed, or NOT, depending on if you checked the box. If you install from online out of your DAZ account, there will be no local file to save or delete (there is, but it's in a TEMP folder and immediately deleted), and if it's later updated on the server, you will never have access to the previous version.
SO... ALWAYS DOWNLOAD THE ASSET!!! Then install locally, and choose NOT to delete the files when done. That way, you have a Forever Backup.
Also, if your lost version is recent, I might just have it? I've been inactive for about a year, so I've missed archiving anything past 4.22.0.16 - but let me know, I might have your medicine.secret tip: after I install a new DAZ, I immediately add the version number to the folder and send the new shortcut to desktop. That way, I never forget to do it and run into... all this.
