So not long ago I notice that almost every site that rips off this sites material rips of Genesis/Daz stuff. With a couple taking Poser items but almost exclusively Genesis/Daz and every so often an OBJ file. Any guess as to why?
April 16, 2018 at 12:51 AM #571655I actually deleted the longwinded comment I made. But I'm beginning to suspect there are sites that offer up not just any cheese; but Daz3d cheese. It goes well with anything. If it were a type of cheese, it would be a Swiss Jalapeno Cannabis Cheese. I'll leave it at that. You can figure it out for yourself. If you'll excuse me, I've got to get my rodent self out of this world-wide-labyrinth before my wife thinks I'm cheating on her.
Now let me see, where did I leave that trail of bread crumbs? Oops. I believe I ate it.April 16, 2018 at 9:02 AM #572006Arthur just got me spitting coffee all over the keyboard... ah, well, it was a 4 months piece, it's old already...
Seriously though, it's supply and demand, on reverse. Back in the day, right about where the first Genesis figure was launched, you'd be extremely lucky to find more than a handful shared packs that were DAZ optimised, with nearly 90% of their listings coming from RDNA, Renderosity, and (of course) Renderotica. And, ShareCG would have tons of freebie assets and add-ons for all sorts of figures besides the Victoria 1-4 and Michael 1-4 bases. Roxy, Alyson, Miki, Antonia, Michelle, later Dawn, GND Anastasia etc... Why? Because the majority of the community was running Poser, with only a handful going for DAZ. Demand was for Poser opted assets, Supply was made to meet demand.
Now, fast-forward a few years, we have Genesis 2 figures, and all their derivatives, Poser integration is far less natural than it was with V1-4 and M1-4 bases... and more people are going to DAZ... still, since they CAN be used in Poser, officially too, Poser assets are still relatively high on demand.
Again, move a couple years ahead, and we have Genesis 3 and 8 figures, Poser integration is a bloody mess with these, rigging and geometry handling in DAZ has finally surpassed Poser's weight mapping method, and Iray has given Poser a deathblow, that the cycles modified Superfly engine can't counter. Demand, as anyone could easily expect has shifted towards DAZ assets, as many of the user base has moved to DAZ, and even those of us that still use Poser, know that, we will probably have to move to DAZ completely, sooner or later (unless Poser has learned their lesson, which I doubt they did, and decide to actually match up with DAZ on the technical part of the software, offering true equals of anything DAZ can offer). Again, Demand is high, if not nearly exclusive for DAZ assets, and Supply is shifted, to meet the Demand.April 16, 2018 at 11:55 PM #572788I started with Poser and left for a good while. I decided to try Daz again since I didnt like it at first and just messed with poser. Im glad i tried it. I thought Poser would at least be equal with Daz or better since they had the jump on them. I havent tried morphing yet in Daz but from what ive seen on videos, I think I like Poser better. Also I liked the fitting room. If Daz added those 2 items Id say Poser who?
