no message alerts

I used to see a number of alerts in the top right corner of the ZG website, and that number included if I was tagged in a message or someone sent a private message. But now it doesnt seem to show an alert when someone sends private messages, so unless i'm expecting a message I wouldn't know someone sent one. Is this a new change on purpose or an error after something else was modified? Am I the only one noticing this?

I still can see the notification of being tagged or receiving PMs... Is there sth. wrong?

I see a notification that you replied to this thread, but when someone sends a PM i get no notification.

EDIT: if I navigate to the actual notifications page, I can see the notifications there. I just do not get an alert in the top right corner of the screen to let me know theres a new alert.

Whatever the issue was, it seems to have either been corrected or was a glitch and corrected itself, because it is now working properly again.
