The dirty skin and back lighting are great. The shield doesnt hold up to the quality of the rest of the render. It looks like you use a lot of PS in post. Am I correct in this observation?
Adam thanks for the feedback, I hadn't changed the rendering settings for this but did a lot of work as it overpowered the image to start with.
Yes I do use PS a lot in post. I am a photographer by trade and shoot primarily cosplayers. I've been doing composites in photoshop for about 2 years now and am halfway through an art degree.
have to agree with Adam on the latest render.
The shield itself is not wrong, but i do have to say that the colours for the shield for me don't work with the entire look you went for here.
Somehow the shield for me draws too much attention to itself due to the blue/white, and even after post-work, it for me still draws too much attention.
The entire idea, and execution of all the rest is amazing however! 🙂
I had wondered about the colours, the first version was so bright and really stole the image. Thanks for the feedback though always appreciate great critiquing. I agree the blue and white (in light of the morning and having slept lol) probably would have been better a different colour

Have been busy the last few days setting up a new laptop and then a 21 hour render (I am working out render settings for the new machine)
