saw it and was only slightly impressed. Black character looks better than the dedicate black G8 models. That's nice since good black characters are needed. But its just another G8 model overall.
I'm liking the Hairstyles and clothing that has come out with Gia 8. Gia 8 is just okay though.. I wish there were more non-supermodel characters as-well(like UnboundConsciousness was saying). I don't understand the fascination with all supermodel characters that creators come out with. Most 3d render artists like to make their stuff look as realistic as possible. However when your 3d model itself looks fake, then it doesn't matter how perfected your lighting and cameras are, its still going to look off/unauthentic.
@jcourtney I believe Latonya 8 is the spiritual successor to Bethany 7, albeit in body shape/type.
But yeah, while Genesis 8 has brought us some pretty neat/unique characters (Ollie, Edie, Mabel, Floyd, and Toon Dwayne), it's also been a HUGE step back in terms of ethnic and gender diveristy IMHO. It's why Genesis 3 will always be my favorite gen. Remember when we'd get a female bundle and then a male counterpart in the same month? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
Some PAs have picked up the slack in some respects (I liked the one curvy character Belladzines did for Penny 8, Louisa, which I own), but Daz themselves have always had problems when it comes to race. Which, sadly, boil down to money and how much things sell; and white characters at the forefront of promos move the most bucks. Pretty pathetic on their end that we haven't gotten Mei Lin 8 or Lee 8 yet, but OTOH, some PAs have put out some amazing East Asian characters. So... double edged sword.
That said, the items that come with Gia 8 are really well made, but I don't think they justify buying the bundle. Even if they were, I'm tapped out after spending a fair bit during the bulk of the PA sale and getting both Latonya and Brute in the same month. D:
Gia's series never been a type of model that i liked. Not my taste.
But i do agree like other people above that G3 Gia looked better than current G8 Gia. Especially about the face and the general silhouette.
Gia 7 at least, even if she was pretty masculine and althletic, she had enough female curve overall to make her look femine. Even in her face shape. Gia 8 look very very masculine.
Whilst I wasn't that taken with the promos, once I had her loaded & took a look in DS, I have warmed to her a bit.
Certainly not curvy, but not bad.Still think the Gia 7 was nicer though.
