Argh!
Sorry folks but all my recent posting has backfired on me. My Mega drive just went 404, I assume for piracy. All the recent posts must have irked someone and they complained. This isn't all bad though because it's made me do some soul searching. All the searching through the other pirate sites then posting here had become an obsession on it's own, taking up more and more time.
I've been dabbling in AI at the suggestion of @frank22 and am impressed. It's getting better (a LOT better!) and has possibilities. I haven't opened Studio in months because of other hobbies and I really shouldn't be screwing around hunting and posting for no real reason.
I'm still here and enjoy chatting about graphics in general so I won't be a stranger. If anyone wants to explore photogrammetry and gausian splatting, I've learned a lot lately.
Ethiopia.November 11, 2025 at 7:48 PM #2152632Sorry to hear that. I'm surprised that it doesn't happen more often. Whatever you do, have fun with it and thanks for everything.
Best regards,
November 11, 2025 at 7:55 PM #2152633Thanks, I'm still around because I like all you folks.
I've asked Warrant or Monk to bulk delete all my posts as I'm getting a flurry of PMs about the missing files.
By the way, do you want any points? I have a pile I'll never use.November 11, 2025 at 8:21 PM #2152635Well, of course I´d appreciate them, but I've read a lot of your posts and I'm well aware about how much you dislike users that don't upload anything. In case you didn't notice I must admit that, at least for now, I'm one of them.
I can't refute your opinion; recently I tried to fill a request (Rigify Modular Face Rigging), but a user warned me there was a little video missing, which I could not provide because I just had found it elsewhere. I was not aware of that mistake and, since I could not provide the missing file, asked warrant63 for the request to be reset.
Now, I see that someone is going to post those very files (still missing the one I hadn't), and I've felt myself a glimpse of what you've probably experienced during all these years, although on an infinitely smaller scale. There is nothing no complain about, because I'm no better than this poster and, ultimately, the point is to share whatever we can put on the table. I hope, however, that he/she will realize there is a missing file and warn people about it.
Therefore, in good conscience, I think I should refuse your offer and, until I'm ready to put my money where my mouth is, work my way up on my own however I can. However, if you still insist, I wouldn't look a horse gift in the mouth.
Best regards,
November 11, 2025 at 8:36 PM #2152637There ya go, points for being chatty.
My wife still works and the cat isn't much of a conversationalist so I appreciate people who like to chat.November 11, 2025 at 8:40 PM #2152638That was, to put it mildly, amazing. Thanks a lot. I've got some things to think about.
See you in the forums,
November 11, 2025 at 11:15 PM #2152647I never thought you'd go over to the AI dark side with me Ethiopia. I'm now 3 years out of Daz Studio but hang around for the same reason as you, and offer some advise to others from time to time, for what that's worth. If you have any questions about using AI I'll try to help you out the best I can.
As for points, some of us used to hand out free points at Xmas time. Hold off on your points and we'll do a give-away to new members at Xmas - the one's who actively participate here and not the ones who just grab stuff.November 11, 2025 at 11:39 PM #2152650I'm going in a slightly different direction. I've spent a lot of time screwing with photogrammetry and had only limited luck because the documentation is lousy AND because I tend to tackle over-the-top projects. PM me and I'll send you one that I've been working on. I stumbled onto Gausian Splatting and dived in because it's well documented and much more efficient, CPU-GPU wise. My goal is to make scenes for Blender. There's an antique train station near here that's intrigued with what I'm trying to do to. I've looked at possibly training a few items for use in AI but that'll wait.
I like the idea of donating points. Keep me in the loop.
November 12, 2025 at 12:18 AM #2152652An old friend of mine was a cartographer who used photogrammetry to draw maps from aerial photos. He was replaced by a computer about 25 years ago and now goes out into forests counting koalas for the same dept. Seems to me like much better than his old desk job anyway.
Your hobby looks a lot more interesting than mine 🙁November 14, 2025 at 2:29 AM #2152904Ive had it happen twice.
November 14, 2025 at 5:14 AM #2152914Ethiopia, You have always been an amazing part of the crew here, Just saying thank you. 🙂
November 14, 2025 at 5:20 AM #2152916I had one of mine closed as I forgot about it. I think most of the links were fixed up now. A little annoying about having to find the files upload them again.
November 14, 2025 at 11:05 AM #2152945November 15, 2025 at 1:03 PM #2153086Mine was hit and taken down about 2 months ago as well.
November 15, 2025 at 3:39 PM #2153097I still have stuff on Bunkrr but I haven't used it in many months and no longer remember my login or password.
