To be honest this is why I haven't really uploaded anything myself. ISPs, and DMCA don't seem to have a problem with simply downloading, instead they focus on the uploaders. That's why I give my hats off to all the uploaders out there. Thank you for your service to the community.
One thing I would suggest, is always use a VPN.
July 8, 2021 at 1:30 AM #1709457Also why all my uploads are old (but decent) stuff, and things I've modified myself, under the assumption the LEA and vendors won't be that concerned with items that have long passed their commercial value. The worst that happens seems to be a file sharing site closing your account.
As for ISP anonymity like VPN (or TOR or Tails for that matter) you're probably flagging yourself as someone doing something you want to hide. The old "doing nothing wrong, nothing to hide mantra." Apparently the NSA automatically logs the ISPs of everyone downloading TOR and Tails for that reason. Anonymity is a myth because there's a million ways the plods can get you it they really want to, but thankfully software piracy would be well down on their list of priorities, unless you're a Kim Dotcom and doing it big-time.July 8, 2021 at 1:45 AM #1709459Lol, I've never used the deepweb, and never plan too. The only thing I use VPNs for are downloading from this site, and watching movies on streaming sites like fmovies. VPNs also help override the download limit on file sharing sites.
I was also a big user of thetrove for RPG stuff but that's been down for about a month now. Sadly it might be down for good.
July 8, 2021 at 2:16 AM #1709473Notwithstanding that all of those things you're doing are against the law of the land. I have never used the darkweb myself but the principle applies.... keep your head down, make yourself a small target and don't attract attention. Legally there's no distinction between small crimes and big crimes. The fact that all adults have committed some sort of indictable offence in their lives, some more often than others, and got away with it is intellectual comfort, but not legally binding.
July 8, 2021 at 8:46 PM #1709666I must agree with @CerealPirate , I guess the future of file sharing is the decentralized internet...
Today I posted a mirror link to a product hosted there (siasky), so let's see what happens.
