The boring part is you don’t have conversion to g8f in genx plugin
That's because the creator of that wonderful plugin died and nobody bothered to continue it or make their own version.

Yep, because the meshes don't match up as Abad rightly explained, and it's compounded by the fact that you're also dealing with SubD in the Genesis figures.
the best you can hope for is to convert it all over, and then take the last step of exporting your v4 and converted G8 figures out to .obj, then matching the G8 version as closely as possible in some external mesh-wrestling application, like Blender.
Note that it also helps if you can convert the textures up as well (and convert them for use in iRay). Most people don't quite realize it, but the skintex is at least half of the character's personality, so finding something "close" simply won't do. It's best to convert it up.
I've had conversion runs that became utter failures, because they just plain look too different. In some cases though, I've had some that turned out far better than the original, and became newer/better characters in their own right. In one case, I had what was originally a supporting character become one of my best main characters in existence after converting it up...
I guess the best philosophy is to realize that your old characters will never really, truly make the jump. Relish waht was, archive them, and enjoy them for what they were. But also realize you can create newer, better ones from the experience. That conversion is an excellent time to toy around a bit with new textures, hair sets, and even tweak on the shapes a bit (eyes, face, body etc)... you might be surprised at what you discover.

That's sad
March 22, 2022 at 12:09 am #1787035AnonymousInactiveRank:I think she came out fine in G8, but her feet are a little distorted. Now I just need to cut out the head and the feet so that they're not dialed in.
March 28, 2022 at 4:57 am #1789352heres tips for GenX:
If a morph says something about HD then you usually want to use edges.
If a morph touches fingers/toes they may end up butchered if so retry with the smooth option.
If you find some morphs seem todo nothing at all then you may need to reconvert them with edges option.
My experience comes from trying to convert the morphs from PH11050PH3r5366 to G8M
March 28, 2022 at 5:18 am #1789357Any figure converted to G8, the morphs it creates can be used on G8.1.
Select your character and at the top of your studio screen, go to File/Save As/Shaping Preset. Name this file "(character name)_Shape 8.1". Make sure "current frame only" is selected, and simply hit Accept.
I saved these, when it asked to Genesis 8 Female/******/Charactername folder
******** is my DAZ3D forum name so I hid it here.
Next go back to the top of your studio screen, go to File/Save As/Material(s) Preset. Name this file "(character name)_Mats 8.1". Simply hit Accept. (this is a handy preset to keep even after the transfer is done to fix the character skin if you make a mistake when using other products). Saved to the same folder as my shape. I ALSO save out as a hierarchal materials preset since I also transfer attachments like hair.
If you are moving a custom character that already has a hair, grafts (genitals) and the like, you can move those over too by selecting File/Save As/Wearable Preset (UN-SELECT eyelashes, G8.1 Eyelashes are different) and hit Accept. Again, saved to my custom folder.
Then load a G8.1F, select, apply shape, apply attachments, apply materials.
Cribbed process some time ago from the DAZ3D forums.

So what did you do?
Use wrap 3 on a V4 character & import to G8F?
🙂
March 28, 2022 at 12:04 pm #1789479AnonymousInactiveRank:@eelgoo I ended up using GenX and then Xtransfer. It worked for her, but some other MDD morphs I tried didn't come out too great.
@jfmherokiller I just tried the smooth option but still got the distorted feet. Thankfully everything else looks good.
@oldwolf That's really great advice! I prefer GF8.1s skin and I now use her almost exclusively. I only need the character morph, so it looks like a very easy process! Thank you for the tip 🙂March 28, 2022 at 5:03 pm #1789553AnonymousInactiveRank:Wrap 3 is great if you want some more realism by using the Texturing.xyz skins. It's been a while since I converted any V4 figure into a Gen 3 gal. This thread has fired up some new interest. Thanks to everyone for their input 🙂
March 28, 2022 at 5:53 pm #1789568AnonymousInactiveRank:I was considering wrap 3 but I think it's above my tech level. I'd love to see an image of any converted morph you make @billyhill .

Why not to G81F?
:0/
March 28, 2022 at 6:30 pm #1789585I used to use this tool to convert from v4 to g3, and then g3 to g8, by this guy on deviantart. His name is darkhound, who used to make a lot of nude mods for Illusion games, back then on hongfire. Imo it work better than most of the product sold on daz3d.
You guys could check it out here:March 28, 2022 at 6:57 pm #1789600I could never get the G3 to G8 one to work.
Is there a trick to it?
:0/
March 28, 2022 at 8:32 pm #1789623AnonymousInactiveRank:I Think it can be done but I've never tried it with Genesis models.
Will give it a try with my Zbrush plugin when time permits 🙂Now for a little artistic nudity.
GND4 Converted to Genesis 8.1. All Genesis 8 dial morphs work. Nothing distorted even without rigging. Stock GenX from V4 to Gen 3 with no tweaks and nothing changed in the tabs, then into XTransfer to G8. Pants tweaked in Zbrush to show off :p (I hope this image is permitted? If not please remove it)

It's really easy to use and there's plenty of tutorials in the wild and on the Tube. Me, I use the Zbrush plugin and Zbrush for all morphs DS or otherwize.
I don't know why people spend hours or days manupulating clothing or features with DAZ scripts when it can be ported from DS to The Brush with GOZ and done in seconds. BTW i'm an amateur but willing to learn to get the results I want 🙂
