@Gts6 Good question. I assumed it was a sub-rank to show how close people were to the next rank. But looking at them in this thread, that wouldn't make much sense.
@Ethiopia I like having something to show that a member is active and/or has been around for a while. Point total/rank is one way of doing that, but flawed for obvious reasons.

But it would mean making a new points system and boots on the ground to administer it, that the site doesn't have. Let alone dealing with inevitable disputes.... "I didn't get my points for helping so-and-so" etc. I see things like running comps, giving points to the pointless and sharing in Free Resources as charitable acts and conducive to the community spirit. Personal ranking aside, you don't really need many points anyway unless you're a shopaholic.

I don't know what the rank thresholds are. I know they get exponentially higher each time, but I haven't kept track. (I truly don't care about rank, if my sarcasm above wasn't obvious.)
OK, sorry. But with ranking currently only determined by points we'd have to change that system. I agree that the 10 points one gets for the effort of starting and administering an art contest doesn't seem equitable when you get ten points just for starting a new thread.

Have I mentioned the secret VIP sub-forums that are only available to high-ranking members?There are far too many lowly Rank 1s and Rank 2s in this thread. Please ask a Rank 6 for permission before offering commentary.
I'm a 3 so I feel somewhat relieved. We threes need only to kneel before the sixes rather than fully prostrating themselves like the twos and ones. Take that with with the same humor as @Enjoyify's comments.

As far as badges (you know, the original topic?) They're fun and all, but I can live without them. I will admit that half the fun was in finding out what the heck they were.
Meanwhile, I got characters to work on and release, because this floor tastes like crap.
@Gts6 I figured out what the second number after our rank is! It's simply the comment numeration on a particular page.
For example, if you hover over my rank to the left of this comment, it should show "Rank 6 3."
"6" because I have a very impressive, superior rank.
"3" because I'm the third comment on this page.
