    Money.

    Because the hobbyist is seen as a cash cow for both software and hardware vendors.
    Basically if you can't afford the latest software and hardware, you can't be in the creators club.

    I recall (forget where now) you had to prove legitimate ownership of the software you were working with before submitting your work to be sold.

    I'm not imagining this, it was a few years back.

    They do tend to get a little snarky from time to time, don't they! 😉

    Seriously though, I suppose you can't blame them for trying to run a legitimate business model.

    Where it falls apart is when they get into a spiral of inflated prices, especially for texture only items.

    I find 'Rosity's coupon route somewhat more flexible than Daz's 'buy this to get a disount on that' approach.

    That said of late especially, their coupons have exclude this & that limiting their value. I wish they covered sale & clearance items more often.

    @eelgoo

    Rosity offer discounts while DAZ inflate their prices. Madness!
    I keep getting offers on a daily basis from Renderosity, non before a few weeks ago. Things must have taken a nosedive across the consumer landscape.

    I think Daz are milking it harder than ever, whilst 'Rosity are being a bit more realistic about it! 😉
