Is there an answer to this? When is this going to end? It's starting to get ridiculous.
December 31, 2022 at 9:47 PM #1908281we're under attack by someone. we don't know who, but it definitely wants this site shut down and probably is a law firm that's representing one or more PAs in Europe, or is a DMCA troll.
December 31, 2022 at 10:42 PM #1908300Clearly there are going from post to post copying the image link into Google and then reporting the image to get it taken down. How the hell do we stop someone doing that?
January 1, 2023 at 1:30 AM #1908327`Stop using Postimg ... might be a good solution.
January 1, 2023 at 8:37 AM #1908367We use Postimage because it's in the rules. Also the site itself doesn't matter, as long as the guys tring to ruin the site can track uploaded images back to the source they can get our pictures taken down. Unless you know a site that doesn't care about copyright?
January 7, 2023 at 6:40 AM #1910746COPY THAT. Makes sense.
January 7, 2023 at 7:59 PM #1911049Maybe can force login to see the blog or site contents rather than making it public?
January 8, 2023 at 8:09 AM #1911194Yeah, I second the the idea of making content only visible upon signing up and logging in.
January 9, 2023 at 6:23 PM #1911792They are also filing copyright strikes and takedown requests with imgur within 12 hours of images of content linked here being posted there.
January 9, 2023 at 6:24 PM #1911793Making content only visible if you are logged in won't help until we figure out what accounts here are being used to report both the images and the downloadable content. Its obvious someone here has enough points to purchase content and report the download links. That means they can report all of the images too.
January 9, 2023 at 6:26 PM #1911794At this point, it’s definitely a DMCA troll since it’s mainly targeting here and less on other copycat sites.
January 10, 2023 at 6:28 AM #1911902I noticed that everything on this site is crawled by search engines. Maybe turn site se/bot visibility off?
January 10, 2023 at 3:56 PM #1912178robots.txt won't stop some moron from logging in and crawling around with a freebie account, noting URLs, and then lodging DMCA complaints. This is exactly what is happening, because you have to spend points to see the file source, and an account can only get 100pts each day.
There are ways around it:
* obscure the image source URL a bit, using hotlink protection as your guidepost. Here is an example: https://forum.webdeveloper.com/d/228498-resolved-hide-image-source-using-php-and-sessions
* find an image host that doesn't care about DMCA.
* hire a hitman to take out the most egregious, and fear will keep the others in line.
So maybe that last one is a bit unworkable, but a modified hotlink protection rig could do the trick. It isn't perfect (someone would still use TinEye or Yandex img search), but at least it will make them work for it!
January 10, 2023 at 7:09 PM #1912226How much does an image have to be altered to no longer be considered an infringement
January 10, 2023 at 11:05 PM #1912316@ethiopia - I think he/she meant CloudFlare?
