According to the Changelog we will see Googles Filament PBR realtime render engine in the next Studio version. Interesting...
Guess good for animation or replacing the old slow opengl preview renderer

https://github.com/google/filamentAugust 22, 2020 at 7:45 AM #1622146I wonder then, if a new Beta Public release is imminent. 🙂
August 22, 2020 at 9:58 AM #1622175I don't think so, you could compare iray to cycles and filament to EEVEE like in Blender.
August 22, 2020 at 10:14 AM #1622181The most recent entry in the change log is an up issued IRay, so thankfully, it is still in fashion! 😉

I'll pass on anything Google. If I ray goes I will export the model to another engine for rendering.
August 22, 2020 at 2:05 PM #1622227Considering each new Daz version breaks the program in some capacity I am very hesitant to update to the newest version. Instead of improving the product, they are downgrading it.

LOL! It's way past it's retirement. 😀
I hope Iray will exist for a long time yet. It costs nearly $300 for the plugin for other apps, Maya etc... As long as it stays free in DS it'll use it for preview rendering before exporting the dolls.

I've had one crash and no other problems with the latest DS.
But I guess I don't use it to it's full potential to notice all the bugs.August 23, 2020 at 11:53 AM #1622394@norbertz the newest Daz Studio version (1.1 something) is full of problems. I am still in 0.8 and it is much more stable.
I wish we would get a faster and lesser Vram hungry Rendering engine, but still beautiful and easy to handle like Iray.

I'm not having any issues with the latest offering.
But as I said I don't use it to it's full potential and probably never will.VRAM you say? Don't forget to sell some internal organs if you want one of the new Nvidia cards 😀
