The were called Nehru Jackets(with mandarin collars). Made popular by the Beatles and named after a garment worn by Jawaharlal Nehru, the prime minister of India at the time. I wanted one but my parents said it was too expensive for a fad.

@fa0056 Nehru jacket was a bit different.. the collar did not have the notch at the top.. it was fully closed.. and it was worn fully buttoned.. with maybe the top button undone 🙂

.. and i too didn't get my Nehru jacket.. 😀
