Whelp, I just did something bad. I moved my camera around after setting the scene and didn't catch it until it was too late to use the ol' ctrl-z. This was a big background image render and was trying to line up a character to said background (that I rendered over night). Is there a way to prevent this by locking a camera in a position? we won't talk about the other stupid thing where I accidentally saved over it with the new camera position. I know this one is fooked but wondering if I could idiot proof it for future me.

Yup there is. I lock my main camera because I ALWAYS forget and move it around by accident.

Select the Camera in the Scene Tab. Then right click the Parameters Tab --> Select Lock --> Lock Selected Nodes

Everything about that Camera will be locked; you won't be able to move it, turn off visibility, or adjust settings. If you want to unlock it, simply do the above but instead select Unlock Selected Nodes.

You can also unlock specific settings by going into the Parameters Tab and clicking on the little lock icon in the upper right of a particular parameter. If the lock icon is unlocked, it means you can move that parameter again. I usually lock everything and then specifically unlock "Visible" (so I can hide it from the scene when I want to). I sometimes unlock FStop and Focal Distance since I usually adjust those at the end of making a scene.

This is my personal nightmare! I do it all the time, wasting time spent positioning a cam and then OOPS.

If you're daft like me, you can go ahead and make yourself a "safety cam", where you just conjure a regular camera, set all the locks you typically want on, and save it as a support asset. Now you have a cam that will spawn with its bits and bobs locked.

Chad points if you do this with a section plane camera. 🙂

Select the Camera in the Scene Tab. Then right click the Parameters Tab –> Select Lock –> Lock Selected Nodes

I do not have lock selected nodes, I was able to use the lock button on the properties to lock them down but yeah when I right click and go to the Parameters tab, I get lock properties (it does nothing to lock the cam) the other way does work. Thanks to both of you for your assist on this.
