You can always see what new products DAZ has put out by viewing the Rendo gallery. I’m glad the “Girls on Trikes” fad has run its course, but now I have a sudden urge to watch the LOTR trilogy.
I'd argue there's a huge lack of originality in the Daz/Poser world these days in general. I mean, how many freaking variations of a bikini/lingere/high heels and white girls who look like Barbie dolls can one come up with and _still_ not get tired of?
That's why I'm growing increasingly frustrated with Rendo and Daz and their chokehold on the market, and why I wish more PAs -especially those who often say they wish they could make certain things but can't because of "market trends"-, would embrace sites like Gumroad, Sellfy, and even Patreon.
I'm not saying bikini-high heel-lingere-wearing sameface white girls need to go away, I'm just saying we need more variety and people willing to make the leap of faith to do something radically different for a change.
... Now if you excuse me, I need to go back to researching Blender, Hexagon, and saving up for MD and ZBrush.There are certain merchants who buck the trend, but their output is very quickly swamped in the maelstrom of mediocrity.

What do you imagine to be originality? Are you just saying that you're frustrated with the amount of texture add-on's for products? Because they are the easiest thing to make they're always going to be churned out and they will sell.
Really original designs are hard to find because the minds that come up with them usually get eaten up by the professional game industry.

I'm not necessarily knocking the CCs. One can definitely not make a claim that a collection of girls posing on a child's tricycle is not original. But it's weird when you go into the Rendo gallery and there are 20 renders of girls on trikes on a given day immediately after release. Now it's the Orc for G8 (which does look cool, though).
I guess I would like to see more variety from the artists.
@robf4g210 (can you please change your member name?) I didn't see the trike pictures as I don't really take much notice of the new stuff unless it catches my eye. I always like Orcs though and once artist find something that sells, they will churn out variations on that theme.
I would think it would be heartbreaking to spend a lot of time creating a product that's new only for people not to want it. The name of the game is to sell what people are buying so that's what these vendors do.

Point we’ll taken and thanks for being the devil’s advocate. A product that didn’t get showcased by the artists is likened to posting an image in a gallery that you are super proud of, and it only gets, like, two comments.
As someone who is working on trying to become a PA, there’s a huge difference between doing your own stuff on an Indi site where you can sell a few copies of something and doing it on a major content site where you’ll get a number of sales through presence alone.
