I remember starting out programming in the late 70's/Early 80's with a bunch of the old school home computers like the TI-99, the Timex Sinclair, the TRS-80, the Apples and of course the Commodore 64 (and later on the Amigas)
Well the c64 is back, with new modern OS (linux based), plus all the old software can be run, plus new software. Even windows can be run with WinE

Something I'll never get but its absolutely amazing and I'm happy for anyone that decides to get one. I might even have the original packed up somewhere. I did sell the Amiga and still regret it.
Used to have Atari 1040 because it had a MIDI interface. Cubase on a floppy, with room for few compositions to spare. Things have changed...
Yea, its pretty cool that it's being released by the actual owners of Commodore and under the old c64 name. But I don't know that I would get one either, since I just built a new PC months ago, otherwise I prob would. I might build a pc out of old parts here and just run that commodore OS on it and it would be the same thing. (except without the retro C64 keyboard/case)
I started with a Ti-99 & later moved to an Atari ST.
I have no plans to revisit either.
In this case nostalgia needs to be left as nostalgia!

Impressive, but I was always an Atari fan and had them right from the 400 console.Still have an Atari STFM - which I expanded to 4 meg RAM [:)] and added an emulator to run Windows 2.1 [worked quite well].
Boxed up with it I have about 8 double capacity 3" disk boxes full of Public Domain stuff that I ran, and another box with upwards of 50 original boxed games, a trackball controller and some original joysticks.
Will have to get the out when back in the UK to see what still works - hopefully all of it...

NostalgiaI too started off with a C64. Pounding out code from a magazine as a kid, used something called GEOS, before windows and used a joystick. You never hear about it these days. Im not the nostagic sort. But hey...different strokes.
@anna1945 No, I don't have the Timex-Sinclair anymore. But they are still being sold on eBay.
I Don't have any of those old models anymore.@buster Yes, I have the emulators installed on an old Wii video game system. Overwrite some things on the hardware and installed lots of custom stuff, including emulators. I can use play anything on that thing, all the old atari stuff too, all on one box. Can even hook a USB keyboard into the Wii and play all the old DOS computer games on there with an emulator. Plus can still play all the playstation 1&2 and NES and Wii games on it. Have an external USB hard drive with every Wii game loaded onto it, and with the custom menus can scroll through the titles like you would on a movie streaming system. And then play whichever game you like. Its a pretty cool setup

Geez...I was gonna pipe in but suddenly you folks made me feel like the kid here at only 68.
My first experience was typing punchcards and running them on an IBM 1138 mainframe. I believe it was using Fortran. I didn't do anything else until I got my first computer used from a neighbour, a 386 and we played the first Leisure Suit Larry in 8(?) colours.
