As a general rule you should stay away from all "free" providers as... nothing is really free. Psiphon included (they are not really about privacy). Not sure how much I would trust that.

If you really want a "free" VPN, look for providers that offer a free down-scaled version of their "premium" offering. At least you get good privacy with some limitations on functionality, and they offset the cost to their paying customers.

Windscribe and Protonvpn both fall under that category.

I have no idea if this is a viable option where you live, but have you considered using a free WiFi/WLAN spot somewhere near your place?
Sometimes whoever owns the WiFi spot has installed some kind of filter so nobody uses up all bandwidth for porn and so certain kinds of illegal activities are blocked - like filesharing. If this causes problems, a possible solution would be a VPN (like those mentioned above) in addition to the WiFi spot. The WiFi spot gives you the anonymity, the VPN makes sure (through encryption) that the WiFi spot doesn't know what you are doing online.
