    I haven't used DAZ for a while.
    I kinda forgot how to install products manually.
    Can someone refresh my memory plese?

    Look up....just a little bit above your post....there's eelgoo's be-all and end-all direction for manually installing stuff in Studio. He rambles a bit but it's the bestest set of instructions you'll find.

    Put the data folder contents into Content > Data, and the texture folder contents into Content > Runtime > Textures. These are all dependent files that NEED to be placed in those specific locations for DAZ Studio to be able load the Clothing, Characters, Expressions, Hair, etc. files, which technically can go anywhere you like. But the obviously named Clothing, Characters, Hair, etc. folders are convenient enough.

    As Ethiopia mentioned, Eelgoo's system is for developing a consistent system for installing the non-dependent files for sorting and finding. It's a pain in the ass to have lots of 'stuff' and not remember where you put it. It's probably for the best to start that way, then it is to unlearn bad habits down the road.

    @3demon, Ever since those early dark days in Poser I wondered why models couldn't have just one file that held everything the way Blender does. It would make organizing content so much easier.

    It is not 'rambling', it is explaining in detail! 😉 🙂

    @supreme-leech I would just settle with each asset having all its morphs and textures in a single folder. There's a Patreon creator in Pawchive called xXGoonxGoblinXx which puts his models' textures within the asset folder. Morphs, however, still go to the data folder; I suppose it's a technical limitation in DAZ, but to me, overall, this should be the way to go. Currently I'm uninstalling manually a bunch of unused assets and I'm beyond flabbergasted by the subfolder mess even a single vendor is able to create.

    Excuse my little rant. Best regards,

    This is one of the reasons why I have multiple content directory folders in DS. One pristine Content Directory (never put anything other than the original DS install in it), one for things I use over and over in different projects (base G8/8.1 and G9 figures, gens, skin mats, a few pose sets and props that I use often), and one for whatever the current project is that I'm working on. Then, after I'm done with the project, I delete everything in that one and install whatever stuff I need for the new one. I also have a separate content directory for tools and scripts. And, of course, the standard Poser content directory folder. So minimum of 5 content directories at any given time. Keeps my horder DAZ collection manageable. That and taking the time to copy images of all my clothing, hair, character, prop, and pose assets so I can find what I'm looking for easily when working on projects. I've forgotten probably 90% of what I have, so, without pictures, I won't remember what it looked like and why I wanted it. All of these things must be done with manual installs. There are a couple of tools that allows us to make install files so we can use DIM, but, to me, it's not worth the effort. I used RS' Content Wizard, but it slowed down my workflow. Same with Content Package Assist tool. So just do it manually now.

    If you guys haven't tried this yet you may want to it's free
    https://www.renderhub.com/raph4/dazpackager

    You can take a non DIM zip, say from RH or RO, and drag it over the dazpackager exe and it spits out a DIM usable zip. You can see all of your assets in smart content with it. I've been using it for a couple days and love it so far.

    @barcgwcc,

    "I've forgotten probably 90% of what I have"

    My collection is mostly a mess but that does have one advantage, while stumbling around looking for something I'm reminded of all the stuff I have that I've forgotten about.

    @eelgoo
    , the comment was made with a friendly smile. We need smilies in the forum.

    @cybelle

    Why is the site so laggy?

    Because of the global boiling climate melting ice thingy..
    Zone is now run on a single solar panel, it struggles now and again.
