I haven't bought a new GPU in the past 10 years, and in that time I've had four and they've all been okay.

Is it a bit of a risk, yes. But that's why if you're feeling like you can't quite trust it, go ebay that way you have a return plan.

That's a nice thing to do and yeah I feel the same. Always thinking I aught to wait a bit but I'm at the point now that it's time to upgrade lol.

I might take a look, it's not that bad of an idea. Would be nice to get a 3090 used for a decent price.

I will warn you, prices have gone up, I very specifically waited for the price to bottom out when Eth went to Proof of Stake, but you can still make offers.

Buy used from E-bay with that MBG they have and test it with any Unigine benchmark software & MSI Afterburner. Don't mess with any settings on Afterburner and leave the test running as I mentioned before. If the card dies during testing you can simply return it.
It shouldn't die if the seller has been honest about it's use.

I've never used ebay but I'll take a look. I'm a few months out from buying anything atm so there's some time to browse.

It's a simple process. Just look at the sellers feedback and make a decision based on that. Another place to buy from is FB marketplace where you can collect the card and see it working before handing your money over. This also helps local buyers and sellers avoid hefty fees. Read about how to avoid scams, and if it sounds too good to be true it usually is.

I have done a lot of buying via ebay.

You just need to carefully check the members feedback before committing.

    🙂

Good to hear. I'll take a look and double check the legitimacy of the seller. I'm more concerned that I'll end up buying a card that's half way through it's life cycle but whatever, if its a good deal I suppose I'd be open to it. Thanks for the infos.
