A lot of my renders average around 30+ min for a single character and minor environment. Under that is usually less lights and lower resolution.
Im probably going to do 3 models soon and may do each individually. Will have to see what happens. I personally dont think 30 min is really that bad unless youre on a schedule.Its one reason i try and keep renders simple. The other is sometimes im to lazy to add multiple things
Thirty five to forty minutes was my usual render time with my previous RTX2080 and with a dark scene like this it would have taken much longer. I agree this final scene looks pretty good.
Huge difference between first and last render. Good job!
You can add more and more iterations on the same image, but I'd suggest you to start from scratch another different scene, play with other products, lights, camera angles... the more you practice, the better.
Postwork is another way to improve your renders (a little of color correction, add a frame, small changes that doesn't altere much the original)
And... your new best friend for postwork... 'CANVASES' 🙂And, of course, if you are ready, participate in any of the contest that appear in this site... not only a good chance for points, but more important, it makes you more efficient (working with a theme and an schedule really works)
I've started this one, you are wellcome:I agree, big leap forward. Trouble is....every time you learn a new "trick", you bump into another "prob" with the next idea. Light is the trickiest and important part . As a photographer i understand what I want, but to make it happen is an other thing. With that come the sometimes awful skins that do not react to light as I thought. I want photo quality but we need to wait for DS 10 for that... But I learn every day, was fortunate to get a new pc about a year ago, with some proper hardware. I can recommend it...
Heck, I have had a rough time with this PC. When I first got it, it was a little over $4000 CyberPower PC, and it took me a year to pay it off. When I got it paid off, the problems started.
My wife cooks meatloaf in a glass pan (it tastes better than a metal pan). But it was left on the counter by our table, and the dog thought he was going to get some meatloaf, so he pulled it down. The pan shattered, hit the stove door, broke that glass, and spilled meatloaf juice/grease all over the back (inside) of my PC. It took me a week to clean it all out, but it somewhat worked. Eventually, the CPU went out, so I bought a new one and bent the pins, trying to put it in. So I went all out and got an AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT, and it kept overheating, so I upgraded my cooling to a dual fan system. Then my GPU decided to take a crap! I figured it would be an excellent time to get something good, so I got a Geforce RTX 3060 that, for some reason, I couldn't get to work. I figured maybe memory would help and added two more sticks, but only the GPU fans would come on and go off, so I just thought there was not enough power. So, I got myself a bigger one and had to replace the wiring harness to match everything and added 2 more fans, which brings the total fans to eight (won't even get warm now). I turned it on to nothing but a blue screen... I forgot to update the bios, so I had to take it back down to the basics and do that, then put it all back together for the beast I have today.
Needless to say, getting to where I am now was not fun or easy! Now it is a CyberPower PC tower and whatever else you want to call what I did to it!This is why I'm scared crapless to update my bios or drivers because my PC is working fine ATM.
My motto is if it ain't broke, leave the damn thing alone.
A lot of my renders do around 10 min. But the ones I really put work in to get up to between 15 to 28 min. Now that I am learning more and adding in the actual work with this render, it took almost 35 min. I thought it was a long render time for this PC, but I guess I am just impatient at times as I have put off my school to learn this. However, I got my school caught back up, so we are good there.
By the way before all this work on my PC I got between 1 to 2 hr renders so I shouldn't complain at all now! I just saw some hardcore art that guys say it only took a few minutes to do, but I feel they are fudging it a little, or they have supercomputers, which is possible nowadays! I know there are tweaks to make renders take less time, but most of the ones I have seen mess with the render quality. Postwork programs could be where they put all their work since I now have seen what someone can do in PhotoShop."...before all this work on my PC I got between 1 to 2 hr renders so I shouldn't complain"
I started using Poser with a GTX 960 with 2GB of VRAM so I know how you feel.If I can get the time with school this week, I'll try my hand at it. I'm not sure how well I will do against the pros and the AI, but I'm game!
If I'm late, I still want to submit it, but not for the prize due to missing the cutoff date.@Frank21
That sounds like the giant block we used in 1997 with dial-up. It only took 5 hours to download an image, and that was on a good day, so porn (I mean some other photos) was a no-go then!I am a student once again. I have done, I think, all the teaching in the military I can handle! Well, except for trying to teach my children.
Been rendering on a laptop for a decade+. Finally got another PC. Mostly for Daz but it also got me back into gaming.

We've predicted a sentient AI before I was born. Now that were getting closer we're rushing towards it like a starving dog towards a steak.
Our pride will make use believe we can control it. I doubt I'll see it in my life but possibly. A simple update locked up airlines. Image an AI deciding to play chicken with every fight that takes off.
If we didnt enjoy the opinions of others we wouldn't comment or post art. We'd keep our thoughts to ourselves and die alone surrounded by empty pizza boxes. Food and shelter are the only needs people require. Now that work at home and home delivery are a thing theres no need for socializing
