AFAIK open mouth sliders in G8F (lower jaw open in G8.1) all show teeth as if the lips are flaring out but not actually showing the lips moving so it looks weird especially with so much upper teeth showing. I guess that's OK if you are building expressions where the mouth is pucker or pulling sideways. However it doesn't look right if I am doing an expression of someone who is very dazed or heavily medicated. In those cases just slacking the lower jaw should show no teeth at all.
September 28, 2021 at 3:40 AM #1733811Don't use 8.1 much myself. Are there separate lip controls to put the lips back where they belong? I can see why an expression dial might affect the lips but just opening the mouth shouldn't do that.
September 28, 2021 at 5:36 AM #1733818The lips don't have their own dials in 8.1 AFAIK. Opening the mouth wide would pull back the cheeks thus revealing both the upper and lower teeth. However, simply moving the jaw should not. I think 8.1 just rename the G8F mouth open dial (which should really be called wide open) as lower jaw open but the dial is really doing mouth wide open. I need something that does real slack jaw.

Do you think it may be a problem of a character morph interfering with the base model?
Look through your parameters and see if any morphs are dialed in from another character.
September 28, 2021 at 6:11 PM #1734047I got the same result as you with base G8.1F which is not bad but V8.1 definitely has her upper lips flare up using the same dial. So the dial does not just move the lower jaw. At least in V8.1's case the flare up looks natural albeit not what I was looking for, however, the dial does not look right in many custom characters where their upper teeth are showing without the lip flaring. I don't really know what that dial moves so I think I just have to forgo that dial and figure some other way to move the jaw.
