You see characters that will require certain morphs "G3F head and body morphs" etc blah blah.

I have spent a lot of time creating custom characters made from dialing in a number of morphs from different characters and morph packages.
If i want to use these custom characters in another content folder, i understand that all those characters and morph packs used will also need to be installed or there will be errors thrown when opened.
This all seems like a lot of hard work.

But I was thinking about trying this for an idea and if it would work.

    I download and install zbrush.
Open my custom character up in Daz and send it to zbrush.
Can i save that character as a new morph and use it somewhere else?
Will that eliminate the need for all those other characters and morphs to be installed.

    Tanks,

I watch jay all the time, hes great. Somehow i have not seen this video.

Ok, so i will install zbrush and give it a go.
Have no clue how to use zbrush but all i need is to get a model in and then export back out.

Hopefully this will work and thus, save me from installing all that crap again to use my custom characters on my second daz install and content folder.

If all you want to do is import a model and export it back out then all you really need is Hexagon. Which is free, and already has a built in bridge from Daz so is a lot easier to do. The bridge makes it very easy.
Dial up the character, but make sure scaling is in default pose and scaling.
    Send to Hexagon
Before sending back from Hexagon, reset the figure that is in Daz.
    Now send back from Hexagon.
The rest is as normal. Give it a unique name. Do a adjust rigging to shape and make sure to save the morph as an asset.

JCMs do not transfer. So you will lose those. So there is still reason to keep all that stuff installed.

Also, Daz can handle having multiple content folders, so I am not sure why this is needed. I have content on like 3 hard drives. All you need to do is tell Daz where to find the folders. In you content library, right click on DAZ Studio Formats, choose to add a base directory.

I did everything the way jay did in the video but i was not seeing the zbrush folder being created after i named the morph.
I wasted many hours doing it over and over again before i discovered by accident that model has to be changed in some way before sending it back to daz for it to actually work.
I was just importing the model to zbrush then sending it back to daz without any changes.

Now i am trying to worked out how to save the morph, i now see that the zbrush folder thats created is just a temp because when you close and restart daz its not there. At least Im on the right track now 🙂
I might install hexagon and try that as well. I need to start to learn how to save these morphs now,....

Easiest way it so just export your character as an OBJ making sure that its at base resolution, then use Morph Loader Pro to load it as a character morph and save it as a morph asset.

There's no need to go into zbrush.

Ok, After trying all those options I see that exporting as obj and importing back through morph loader works the best.

This is for me turns out to be very easy, and does exactly what i want. lol

I dont need anything else, i do it all in daz.

It took me a while to workout the save morph assett thing and what to select etc.

But its all good and after more tutorials i finally know what im doing. Today was a good day.
