I have no problem if people share my uploads on other sites, I just found it odd that one of the mods would do that before approving it here.
Well being a partial hypocrite, I think Mods should NOT share on other sites. Random leaches or spies is OK but MODS are put in place to moderate not leach. Yeah, yeah, its still pirating but there are certian levels if wrong.
Steal a loaf of bread from a bread company is different than taking it from a poor elderly woman.
If its the site owner the pretty much have to deal with it.
I, to some extent, agree with that.
I don't mind the admins, mods or griefers finding content here, and uploading it elsewhere. But, due to the fact of how this site works, at least leave it for a day or two. That way, the uploader gets some points which s/he can use to get more stuff here, and so on. For most who've been here for a while, and who've shared, the points are a non-issue - I can't get rid of them even when I try: I spent about 50000 points on stuff about a month or so ago, I'm back up to where I was before I did that already. So no, the points aren't important (to me), but for new users, they are. Therefore, it would be nice if we at least could have a couple days "saletime" before dropping shit other places. Just my 2 cents.
I don't expect anything to be strictly on here, I'm not naive, but sometimes, a little courtesy is nice, even if we're all a bunch of low-life pirates.
Points are a bonus and fun as Ive always said.
Like you said after a few shares You will have more than you can spend. They are a great incentive for new members because it takes points to backtrack but once you are caught up the lose value quickly.If the site went pointless it would make ALL other sites pointless. Pun intended. Id be up for it but it would possibly turn into a bargaining site if you up this ill up that. If we really want interesting, turn this into an ad site (no rapidshare crap) and run contest to where the winner picks an item for the site to buy. The host makes cash for being a host and that seems fair. Id rather cash flow here that there.
Id like to see incentives to enter contests. I like points but when ive already got 10x the prize its more of a bragging rights thing. Not sure if people here would like that but, we have ads now anyway. Some look nice btw.
This site is the best, the issue isn't people sharing stuff, it's stuff being shared BEFORE it's approved here. Once something is in the wild it's out there for anybody to do what they like with however I think the admins here should wait until it's approved before posting it elsewhere.
i.The points as I see them.
1. If you don't want to share with everyone, don't share on the internet.
2. I don't know which members have mod access to this site anymore and it isn't stated anywhere. Maybe someone has access and is uploading for fun and profit. But I doubt it.
3. There are tools available to trawl websites to gather links and information that isn't available to front facing browsers. (All uploads generate a pagelink before it's visible.)
4. All the stuff we post is shared without the owners permission. There is no moral high ground here.
