Now with added AI! If the promo images are anything to go by I'd give this a wide miss, unless you can get it for free here😀. But even then I wouldn't bother.
What it claims to do is, like FT1, transfer a texture & shape. Less said about the tone transfer thing the better. It fixes the fugly FT1 shape issue, but you can already fix the shape with a script. And that's it.... all for $35.
After viewing the product I was left feeling like one of the promo images.... like WTF?... they can't be serious.

From the promos, it relatively enlarges the eyes, tending towards a slightly anime look.

As it isn't legacy enabled anyway, I wouldn't even bother downloading it.

I am curious as to how it would transfer an existing toon/anime face topography, but that's about the only arena that it lends itself to.

Maybe they just missed the mark with the promo images?

I am a bit confused about the trial version. Are we already able to use the trial version (the one with watermark?) through free download (where to get the trial version), or even this trial version is not free?

Another dump question: I am currently using Daz Studio 4.21. Is the trial version 4.22? I haven't updated it since I saw https://zonegfx.com/forums/topic/how-to-revert-to-daz-4-21/

This comment on the Daz forums pretty much sums up the situation.

"I was tempted to buy this thing but then my brain woke up with a few questions.
If I buy the preliminary item, Face Transfer 2, for $34.97, I will not receive an actual product, but it will allow me to get access to the unlimited beta version later.
Would there be an additional price for that beta? ["get access"]
And then when the General Release version is launched, would I get any extra discount for having spent money on the first two steps?
BTW, when I get access to the unlimited beta version, I may discover I don't like it, so would I get my $34.97 back?
It could happen beyond the 30-day return policy, related to the first purchase.
So are they inviting people to spend $34.97 to TEST something, and if they don't like it, phhhht, $34.97 gone, and no product to show for it at all?"

The question is still up with another bullshit response from that asshole Haseltine. He's using the same playbook as my ISP's 'customer retention' guy where he makes the customer appear stupid and cheap for cancelling.\
This Face-Transfer thing, are they just trying to use AI (Stable Diffusion) to charge people for something that's free? I don't see Daz doing any real programming anymore, certainly not to the level required of a real face transfer utility.

Well, Richard Haseltine is their Administrator...so...

Currently the Headshot of CC seems to be doing the best job transferring photo to 3d human, although not compatible with DAZ. Blender's facebuilder is also good, only head through...

BTW I am always thinking to use learn Stable Diffusion to help me build human model from photo...

@maryssmith, From what I've seen, SD is amazing at this. However there seems to be some skill involved as some models are spot on while others have no resemblance to the person. I assume that it's the photos used that makes the difference. As soon as I finish my present project (still at least a couple of months away) I have a few persons I'd like to make models of for use in SD.

@Ethiopia - using Kohya I've trained half a dozen models (loras) over the past few days. They're all actors or celebrities because you can't really judge how good/bad they are without a well-known face to go by.
On my 4070 it takes about 20-25 minutes at moderate settings. The image preparation process can be time-consuming but there are shortcuts, and there's a shit load of settings in Kohya. What's your current project... are you building an ark in your basement 😱.

BTW - I ran into Oskarsson from Daz/Rendo over at Civitai. He's now retired from 3D and into making AI stuff. Says he's doing well.

    @frank22, I sent you a PM.
That's interesting about Oskarsson. I wonder how many others have made the switch. He always had an 'interesting' style.
(edit), just looked him up and found that I'd already saved his 'romance comics' style. He's doing excellent work, I may even buy him a coffee.

This here helps a lot with fixing the FT ugly faces.

@Eelgoo - "I bet that will get deleted pretty fast. :0/"

I was following an interesting conversation today "Is AI killing the 3D star?". Someone mentioned that Daz also appropriates styles and models like AI does. An hour later all comments going back to 28 Nov. are deleted by Haseltine pushing the thread back 3 pages deep. Shows how desperate Daz is of controlling opinions.

Yes, I have long since given up making any posts there.

Usually, they were were blanked or deleted.

Not even constructive criticism is welcomed.
