    Why are those so heavy? I don't understand. I am literally rendering just the character and the hair and my PC is dying. I love the new Victoria 8.1 fringe hair, but it uses the same model which makes it impossible for me to use it anywhere... Anyone else has the same problem?

    did you already try with other dforce hairs? but dforce hair that also strands based hair is commonly very heavy to use

    @deepedia I tried other ones like that, yeah. Very, very heavy. I can't make a scene with this + the character + at least one more character. And my PC is not the worst. I can render up to 4 genesis figures fine. But one with this hair? GG.

    Memory consumption for normal character without hair: 20mb
    Add in the dforce hair jumps to 800+mb. What in the hell?

    @ace94

    I'm not sure what specific memory consumption you are talking about...Geometry or Texture?

    I'm going to assume that it is texture consumption.

    If it's texture, I suggest using Scene Optimizer by V3Digitimes to select the hair and lower all textures by 50% (to 2K textures). Additionally, you can remove some of the other maps from the hair that you don't really need.

    If it's geometry consumption, I'd suggest using the same tool but lowering 1) the Render Preview SubD level to 0 and Render SubD Level down one level.

    I know that adding dForce to an object increases the geometry count alot. I also know that DAZ merchants usually attach 4K TIFF textures that will spike up texture consumption significantly.

    @higoing00 Yeah, I just used scene optimizer and it did help quite a bit. The texture files are 20+ mb per file and the scene optimizer makes them less than a mb. Definitely a great tip for anyone struggling with this hair.
