So I heard over on the Daz forums that Uzilite has actually been selling a couple of things through his own Gumroad account now. That'd explain why he hasn't had any new product at either store he has a storefront at, as I was wondering where he'd gone. He's one of my favorite content creators, so it's good to see he's still active at his own pace.
Personally speaking, I wish more PAs would leave Daz and Rendo and start up their own personal storefronts again, even if it's through a service like Gumroad. I've heard that both Daz and Rendo have some pretty abysmal royalties given to the artists, and in a way, it'd allow them to focus more on making quality products for both Daz and Poser, instead of having to pander to trends (usually sexy skimpwear that looks the same after a while and luxury rich people apartments).
One of the things I've noticed from looking through pre-Genesis products, is how varied and unique everything was. You had older characters (like 60 and up), anime characters, furries, and other awesome outfits. With two storefronts controlling the trends, there's virtually no room for any sort of experimentation and uniqueness. You're either forced to follow the aforementioned trends, or flounder completely.
Having the freedom of a standalone storefront is a really enticing idea to me, and even inspiring. I'm learning how to create my own products that I hope to sell (albeit at a 'name your own price' on Gumroad, since I suck at pricing things, lmao) and avoid the middleman.
In a way, I feel bad at the idea of pirating things from a personal storefront like Gumroad. When I'm financially able to, I'll patron Uzilite's personal store. I think he deserves that much, since his stuff is worth the prices he sets. I hope other PAs start to follow a similar pattern in the future, but that's just wishful thinking on my part.
