Whats your favorite prop to throw into a portrait scene so you can say your not just a voyeur? rug? table? books? lightingfx? something kinkier?

Wouldn't that depend entirely on the theme? ... banana, fish, shotgun 🙂

I'm not entirely sure I understand your meaning when you say, "not just a voyeur"...

And I have to concur with Frank on this one. Props will be highly dependent upon a specific theme or the nature of the character. I mostly eschew props when doing portraits, generally being highly focused on the face and especially the eyes. Even when there are some sparse background elements they are typically out of focus. I prefer a very narrow depth of field for portraits with the eyes being the focal point. In this case I would say that lighting is a key element, and especially that which matches the mood/attitude/demeanor of the character. I'm no lighting expert but I do often like having a gentle off-center soft-box key light, a sharper rim light, the occasional hair snoot depending on the character, and a low power point light for eye shines (adds life to the character).

For evil, nefarious (or just other-wordly) characters I sometimes place a primary color emissive plane or spot below the character's face, just out of camera view and set it to just add a touch of color to the character's face and create some conflicting shadows.

For me almost every render is either a nude or a glam so sometimes I put one or two props in to make it more "artistic". Usually though, I experiment with lighting. Some might say this is suggestive of some particular mental disorder, but hey, I know what I like.

Guy goes to a physchiatrist who gives him the Rorschach inkblot test in which the guy sees sexual imagery in every card. Exasperated doctor finally asks him, "Is sex all you ever think about?" and the guy responds, "Hey, your the one with the dirty pictures."

Getting the right skintone and lighting is one of the trickiest things in DS.
When it comes to props etc, it doesn't HAVE to be full front nudity.
I often strugle with the "no nudity policy". I understand it, but it restricts possibilities.
I do not want to make porn or such, but pictures can be tantalizing and sugestive, without reveling anything. A glanse over a shoulder, the look in an eye etc.
See it as a challenge 😉

Why didn't you say so Montana?! Sybian, Prince Albert, urethral sound stopper, scat chair, torture-rack etc.
So basically the usual items that every decent family have lying around the house.
