Had no idea what was being referred to until jon kim mentioned a ball game.
Anyone want to talk about the current Ashes series?
Link for Americans.January 11, 2022 at 5:11 AM #1765781@frank22
Gotta go with Australia at this point 🙂 but I do love an underdawg. No clue??January 11, 2022 at 6:16 AM #1765834Well jk the series is already won and nothing can change that, so the underdawg is a dead dawg. I wouldn't put my money on a dead pooch in a dogfight.
January 11, 2022 at 4:52 PM #1766002I believe it's University of Georgia that Bulldog Jon is referring to. And good on them for winning last night ... great to see Alabama get trounced and Georgia get its 1st national championship. Congrats, @pumpher! I'm hoping Kentucky can get there one day, but that's likely a ways off. But now, it's college basketball season. Thank you for Sahvir Wheeler, Jon!
January 12, 2022 at 12:09 AM #1766114Why is it that Kentucky is always anxious to talk basketball? Thanks for the support @hocko. I was beginning to think I was alone on this planet, and good luck this season. Looking forward!
January 12, 2022 at 2:25 AM #1766132I'm waiting for the rugby league season to resume ... as soon the cricket will be over. Will be interesting to see the Hobart test plays out.

@pumpher, it's because we've stunk it up for years in football but have always had great basketball to hang our collective hat on. We're getting better but still not at Georgia/Alabama-level ... at least not the push-over we'd been for decades. 😉January 12, 2022 at 5:18 PM #1766323@joelj It's funny how completely oblivious we are to each other's sporting pastimes in this "small world" when it's such a huge part of our local cultures.

No, no, I was only being cheeky. Of course Kentucky wants to talk basketball with their legendary tradition. To avoid confusion and as much as I love the moniker Georgia jon, It was my pop who was The DAWG in the family, which by default only makes me half Bulldog. Mom and I are Carolina Blue. Mom is the biggest sports fan of all and usually wins the pool. She's still uncanny at picking NFL games. I grew up watching, playing and going to games with them and it's always been part of our lives.
My favorite sport has always been college basketball and just like Kentucky, we like to talk Carolina basketball around here too. 🙂 I used to take vacation in March just so I could, well, you know. From Dean Smith to Roy Williams and now Hubert Davis, I'm feeling pretty good, even though Kentucky got us by what, 30pts?
January 12, 2022 at 5:57 PM #1766355Yeah, @pumpher, that was a shocker and I felt a little bad (I'd really like to see Davis do well), but I'd have rather had some of that 30 point margin go toward a win over the Dookies earlier in the season. Let's hope UNC can pin a loss on Special K's gang in conference play!
January 14, 2022 at 5:44 AM #1766831Oh dear, Australia 3 for 12 after 10 overs and Warner and Smith out for ducks.
