There is also a Bone Minion BETA floating around to take poses up to G9 from G8.1 from what I heard.
So let's see if the bullshit that was said by Jay Versluis (WPGuru) on the press video, ends up being all bullshit. The backwards incompatibility would KILL DAZ3D flat out if the millions of dollars worth of assets people bought before G9 is released can be tossed into the garbage from that point on.
That would be business SUICIDE.
My reactions to that announcement made my SHOPPING BEHAVIOR change drastically.
Normally I would have bought the Assassin 8.1 Mega Bundle in a heartbeat - even at $80 pricetag. But thinking "none of this will work on G9" made me wait for it to be shared.Eventually next year all that stuff will end up on some 1.99 sale or something and I can buy it then.
As I said - not a smart move to tell LOYAL CUSTOMERS - all the shit you ever bought from us, ain't gonna work on G9.

AnjaBear@anjabear I can't see it not working, as you're right, that would be suicide. I mean, Daz has pulled some dumb shit, but I can't see them doing that.
On the other hand if DS models don't progress, let's hope that G8 does in a significant way, then we're stuck in the past complaining about how awful the current models are. Daz has (apparently) tried to improve their base models with G9 so wouldn't cut off my nose to spite one's face.
If that happens - I'll stick with my Gen8 models. There is enough resources out there to keep me happy.
I thought the general message was any 8 or 8.1 will work on G9 but G9 will not work on 8.1 < during the live feed WP showed the backwards compatibility dialog box with a jacket, and said something like looser clothes work better .. not going to watch the whole thing again to find the exact sentence but I did find a screen cap:

I feel that the irony of staying stuck in the G8 past for the last five years, is that there's content for days.
Actual, compatible content that all works and plays well (mostly) together.
And an artist base that continues to produce so because they know it's going to "stay that way" (or was) for a while.Does anyone else in here remember the early G3 to G8 "transition days"? And the realizations that came in the first year(s) after? That was frickin painful. For users and for artists. Many walked away.

(No, hopefully not. But still, the price of "progress" is the sacrifice of the ancestors. In DAZ terms, that, at least so far, has meant genocide. I, for one, hope it's not the way this time, and that the Generations can get along.)
