There is a free tutorial at 'Rosity about making a G9 Clone for G8
It is targeted at auto fitting G9 clothing to G8, but if I understand correctly, it could be used to retrofit character morphs? ( If folk would confirm that it would be appreciated). 😉
The catch is you have to install all the G9 paraphenalia to make it.
I don't want the hassle of doing that just to make an autofit clone, so I am prepared to offer 500 points to anyone who is willing & able to make one for those of us who aren't buying into G9.Thanks, Richard. 🙂🙂
November 10, 2022 at 4:35 pm #1888355Hi, mate
PMs sent out~
There’re some problems in Catherine’s method. Here’s the files I made in another way plus Adjust Rigging and ERC Freezing. I will make it possible to quickly tweak JCMs on auto-fitted clothing in DAZ. I also include a vidoe in ZIP. Hope it’ll be helpful~November 10, 2022 at 4:46 pm #1888363Thanks a lot for that, Richard.
Now that is going the extra mile. Thanks for your efforts.
Would you say the process is fully proven out yet?
What about retrofitting G9 characters to G8?
Does that present issues?
I suspect it probably does.
:0/November 10, 2022 at 5:11 pm #1888371Yeah, there’s no big problem for the clothing autofit that I’ve been testing. The tiny problem up-to-now comes from the garment with Rigid Follow Nodes, you have to readjust their positions or re-bind them back to the garment with the attached objects since AutoFitting will eliminate the nodes at the deeper levels. You may try SummerTide and Diva’s Desire~
Retrofitting G9 to G8 is not difficult, fit G9 to G8, transfer figures’ head / body morph targets from G9 to G8 by using Transfer Utility, then export obj and import back. Some deformation could be seen in eyeballs and inner mouth depending on different characters but could be fixed which taking much time indeed. The toughest part is converting texture maps. I’ve been using Wrap4D to do so, it's still not perfect. Will try other ways~

I'll transfer this post to 'General' now.

December 10, 2022 at 6:21 pm #1899648If you have Ultimate Unwrap 3d, you can convert textures back and forth from M4/V4 through Genesis 9...fairly easily. The set up is the biggest p.i.t.a.
December 10, 2022 at 7:03 pm #1899656OK potentially useful info there. Thanks. 🙂

Scroll down for the simple Blender tutorial but set the cage extrusion as explained in the comments below the tutorial. It's all trial and error but some of the 8k results I got looked great.
December 11, 2022 at 1:56 pm #1899987I just made my first attempt at using Richard's G9-G8 Autofit Clone.
I have no other G9 items installed, but the conversion clone works great right out of the box.
Many thanks @windreaver0118
🙂
December 11, 2022 at 6:50 pm #1900053Well done @eelgoo. Only the rest of your G8 library to go once you get addicted to G9 :p
December 11, 2022 at 6:56 pm #1900055No.
