Hi, I probably asked this before, but what are the main differences between the G8 figures and the G8.1 figures? Thanks!

It's something about the Torso material zone. It has been split into Body and Head. The G8.1 get slightly different UV layouts. Also, the face rig is more accurate : the new eyes/eyelashes are upgraded. That's what I know. Maybe someone else can tell more in details.

I must have installed a wonky model because my g8.1 faces are all fucked up. The jaw motion is crazy and the eye lids are buggered. I guess I'll have to uninstall models until i find the culprit.

With your figure selected look at the Parameters panel.

Click on the "Arrow and Hamburger" symbol (mine is in the upper right corner), choose "Preferences" and choose "Show Hidden Properties". This will show the greyed-out hidden parameters among all the other ones.

Look for the ones with face, jaw or eyes in the name and try dialing them back one by one. Wonky models will often insert these morphs into the base 8.1 figure. Sloppy work by the vendor.

    Example:

eJCMAlsionEyesClosedL is dialed in at 42.4%

If changing this to 0% corrects the distortion, then you know the name of the model is "Alison". Remove that model and reload your figure. You'll get an error message about not finding the eJCMAlsionEyesClosedL parameter, but you should be good to go.

You can also edit the DSON or DUF file, but that is beyond my skill or interest level.

Have you updated to 4.23 recently?

So, i did what you suggested and there are no loaded morphs that I can find. it's weird.
One thing I did find though, is Lukas HD for genesis 8 male from renderhub by Den has a persistent morph that gives all G8M ugly sunken cheeks. I also didn't see that morph in the hidden list, i only found it by moving all the morphs out of the folder i use for renderhub characters and reinstalling them one by one until the bug came back. Odd eh?

load a base G8, select the root, enable "show hidden properties" and then go through the list of all morphs and look closely, because if a broken morph loads dialed in as default its value is not highlighted and don't show up under "currently used". had this too in the past caused by items from renderosity and renderotica ...

    I had the similar issue.
This solved it (from DAZ forums):

To fix any ill-behaving (non-zero default value) morphs, do as follows; (I used G8F as a sample, same method works with other figures as well)

    1. Open DS and load "Genesis 8 Basic Female" (to an empty scene)
    2. Right Click at Parameters Tab->Preferences->Choose "Show Hidden Properties" (part 3 zeroes only 'visible' dials)
    3. Right Click at Parameters Tab->Zero->Zero Figure (Zeroes the value of all the 'visible' dials)
    4. Right Click at Parameters Tab->Memorize->Memorize Figure (Sets the current value of all the dials as their default value)
    5. Edit->Save As->Support Asset->Save Modified Assets (Writes the changed default value to the morph files that were changed)

    When saving "Modified Assets" DS shows a dialog and asks for confirmation;
"The following file(s) will be permanently modified:" - "Accept/Cancel" - Choose "Accept"
