I would say good/popular items are almost always filled, average/niche/themed ones will be eventually be filled and low tier ones will remain in the dephts of the request pages.
Beside with the amount of stuff available, people start being picky, cos at some point your hard drive will be full. So you start wondering if you need 4 versions of a similar outfit and go for the best one; same with characters: I pretty much gave up on some creators cos all their new character, they all look the same, being a copy and paste from previous ones. And it applies to almost all items. We're at a point that 2/3 of new stuff is just something we already have from a different creator. And if the previous one looks better, why bother?
November 9, 2025 at 4:47 PM #2152364In the last six months I have filled 98 requests of those 8 were for items I wasn't thinking of buying but thought hmmm might be useful and they were on sale so bought them anyway. I admit I would never buy something that I would NEVER use something for say Iclone or unreal .however I have added to requests for new items and if they have not been filled with in a couple of months I fill the request my self I've done that plenty of times I certainly am not expecting others to always pay for my hobby . 98 fills dose not include all the stuff I have purchased and made available even though there had been no requests for it. for example The bin lorry I uploaded a few days ago got 49 sales in the first 2 days even though no one had requested it. looking back over some of the fills and requests I have done it would certainly appear that any character hair and clothes by Magic brush get filled quickly and the sales on the day they are available to all can be several hundred so obviously very popular .
If I have one gripe about the requests is how few people send you a thank you ,in 1 week i filled 9 requests one of them costing $75 and only received 3 thank yousNovember 9, 2025 at 5:35 PM #2152375Whenever I receive a requested file, I always PM the donor with a 'thank you.'
It only takes a minute & it is only polite.

November 9, 2025 at 5:51 PM #2152381That's very gratifying to here as you say only takes a minute or so , especially if they have saved you a chunk of cash
November 10, 2025 at 12:12 PM #2152462@sunan1977, Wow!....98 fills, you're definitely an outlier statistically speaking. I echo your sentiment regarding the lack of acknowledgement, I've lamented about this in other threads. I filled a large set early in the year (just over 100 bucks in my currency) and received only a couple messages thanking me despite the dozens of downloads it got initially, then the hundreds when I subsequently posted it.
Still, even with you filling so many, only a tiny percentage of requests gets eventually filled, less that 1%. Almost none get posted. My short term survey shows only one blog post and another one being posted on Render-State.
I'm going to take all this and have a chat with Hunter and Warrant and see what they say. Is there a way we can increase the fill and posting rate of requests?
November 10, 2025 at 12:51 PM #2152468what would be nice , but I am not sure how it could be done is if requests could be flagged in someway when they are on sale that may make a difference , I know it does for me I may choose to buy one thats on sale instead of one that isn't , though not always
November 10, 2025 at 1:01 PM #2152470What do you mean "on sale"? discounted?
November 10, 2025 at 1:03 PM #2152471On sale on the DAZ store reduced by a significant percentage in some instances even on new items
November 10, 2025 at 1:10 PM #2152473Well, I asked a while ago in the forum, if we could have a topic pinned, tracking various discounts on Daz store, RH, etc. on existing requests. Cos I believe people will be more tempted to buy something they have requested eventually, if it"s 12 bucks instead of 25, but I was told that we just needed to add more points to the request.
November 10, 2025 at 1:52 PM #2152475I just sent a condensed version of the results of my survey to Hunter and Warrant63. We'll see what they say.
Something I proposed is to somehow enlist 271 members to each go through 10 pages in Render-State and grab any item that's not here and post it here. So far I've found over 20 items in the 'sets' category and am posting them here, a few a day. They're selling well.
November 11, 2025 at 2:13 PM #2152613@khefrenn, From what I've seen, someone who makes a request has no intention of buying it. They're just fishing. They want it but they're a cheapskate and expect others to fund their hobby. From what I keep reading here and in other forums, there's an awful lot of people (mostly younger) who feel entitled to free stuff and get their nose out of joint when it's suggested that they buy an item and post it...ie: make a contribution to the site that gives them sooooo much free stuff.
That seems callous but after many (many, many) conversations here, having been here from the beginning, I've noticed that the majority of people who make BIG contributions and are active are older, or what I like to call 'experienced with life'.Seeing that an item is one sale isn't going to change their attitude. A high percentage of requested items are already under five bucks.
The expensive items like large sets and bundles are attractive to lots of people and usually get posted soon after going up on a vendor's site.
November 13, 2025 at 2:39 AM #2152786Is it the correct etiquette to send thank you reply when receiving filled request notification?
I ask because I personally do not like receiving msg from strangers and the your-request-has-been-filled notification has wording that you should only write msg when something is wrong. So I naturally lean toward I should respect their time. I would like to thank the person filling my request but the system is a bit inhibitive on that inclination.
November 13, 2025 at 4:15 AM #2152788Hello, I read the automatic message in a different way; I understand that you must not answer it unless there is any problem, but it does not try to discourage you from thanking the filler in a different conversation (which I do). Am I right?
I've been using the request systems for a only a couple of weeks or so yet and I don't have any data to back my opinion, but I'm assuming that the fillers/requesters ratio is quite low and therefore many of those fillers must be loaded with points. I'm also seeing many filled requests that are not scheduled to be later posted in the blog, so they are not trying to milk as many points from them as they could. I think I even remember reading some post where a user who had an asset was reluctant to fill a request because he had a bad opinion on some of the requesters.
Thus, I don't think these users, who represent the core of this system, are driven by the rewards to fill those requests -at least not entirely-, so I always send them a small thank you message with the name of the provided asset, and I intent to keep doing so until proven otherwise.
Best regards,
November 13, 2025 at 10:45 AM #2152822@keab, That's what I got from the few replies I received. The one person who fills a lot of requests has 600K points. I found that posting a filled item eventually earned a lot more points than the initial fill did.
However, the number of Daz items being shared here overall has dropped significantly over the past year or so.November 13, 2025 at 11:34 AM #2152831That is correct.
I am sure it winds a lot of people up when people reply to the automated download link message with their thanks.
It is fine if there is a problem with the provided file, but otherwise just send a quick 'Thank You' PM to the member with the file name reference as the title.
🙂
