All good skins. At some point it's simply preference.

The VOOTW skins look good from afar. But I agree -- up close they are cadaveresque.

@Frank22 Lifeless indeed - and the morph is not at all appealing, again that is personal preference. Not a fan of external eyebrows either (like on G8), cuz they often are not very well made, and this (G9) one is no exception. My fav. figure is still G3, because it does the job, it's easy to work with - I have TONS of great textures and clothing items, and as long you don't have too high expectations regarding ultra photorealism, G3 does a heck of a job IMO. But I will still continue to explore G9, out of pure curiosity.

    Yay - It's finally WEEKEND 😀

For my preference G8.1F is the optimum thus far.

To me Danae's V4 skins look the best from your earlier post, Frank

Yeh G8.1 is my favourite too @Eelgoo.
The middle picture on the preceding page should read G9 not G8, she being Minerva of course.

@Frank22 a question from an amateur .... what textures r8.1 can you recommend? interesting for 8.1. Please.

@Bulka - that would depend entirely on one's personal preference. Personally I like skins that are lighter in hue and have slight imperfections, freckles etc. I have no interest in the heavy make-up or uniform skins, nor the overly red ones that Daz seems to produce ad infinitum. Maybe it's my monitor calibration.
For an example I like G8 Claudine after I've added some freckles and adjusted the SSS colour. G8M Commodus (below) can also look reasonable on G8F if I likewise reduce the redness and make some tweaks. I never use skins without doing something or other to them first.

@Frank22 Since you mentioned "overly red" skins, do you have spectral rendering turned on? I ask because I tried spectral rendering for a few weeks but I couldn't properly fix the reddish/orange skins it created. So I turned it off.

Monitor calibration is an issue I often forget about. I wonder how often opinions differ not due to artistic preference, but simply because people are viewing on differently calibrated monitors.

Nup I'm using all the DS default settings. How does one test for colour correctness for their monitor anyway?

Before I upgraded my monitor, I would send finished renders to my phone to check the color since my phone had a better quality screen in comparison.

Without an expensive color calibrator or a physical color wheel, you can approximate with recommended settings and calibration guides on sites like rtings.com.

If you're looking for good pale skins for 8.1, I really like the Sangriart skins such as Pavena, Tilda, and Jeanna. Polina by Dexon is also good.

My monitor's a brand new 4K anyway so it should be alright.
How about this.... looks OK to me LOL. From a time when TV stations used to close for the night.

LOL I've never seen that before. Did the picture in the middle change, or was it always the little girl with the creepy killer clown?

I grew up with the classic native american test pattern. (I'm not terribly old -- my local TV station was very rural and outdated.)

@Enjoyify - It's the BBCs test card used for more than 40 years, from 1967. I lived in London as a kid. The card shows Carole Hersee playing noughts and crosses with Bubbles the Clown.
