Nice to see you back. But why so small render?. Need to zoom in to see a beautiful face.
I assume you have the rtx 3090.Yep. RTX 3090 (was finally sent a ticket from EVGA to buy).
This was a rather quick set-up but it turned what would be a 10 minute render with my 1080 into less than 1 minute (though when I look at it, I can see it could have used a little more time to fully render the face. Especially around the eyes). It is 3154 × 1775 pixels because I'm so used to letting my scenes render in preview mode and *prtSc* it (I use a 4k monitor), then cutting it out with photoshop. Lol. I'll have to get used to actually rendering in its own window again.
I know this is rather underwhelming for a 3090 but I have another I'm working on with 2 WHOLE CHARACTERS 😉 and an actual rendered background. 😮
And thanks, good to be back. I have mostly been collecting assets and sharing my own purchases but not really paying attention to the gallery. I'll have to give it a look now.

Just make sure to show hairs at the end, because those are super heavy. Also, great render!
From what I have seen on youtube used video cards are going to be flooding ebay in a few months. They were being used to mine ethereum I am not sure but have read that they will quit mining it in July, other news say that is going to be going into a new phase of mining so not sure: Here is some interesting info
With the recent market decline, mining cryptocurrency is not as profitable as it was for most of 2021. A single Nvidia 3080 can still generate a profit of roughly $3.50 per day mining Ethereum depending on local energy costs, which is half the profit of late 2021. However, even if another rise in the value of Ethereum occurs, the merge will still end profitable mining.
Ten minutes to <1 minute from a 1080 to a 3090 is pretty impressive, let alone the extra VRAM.
Did you have to upgrade other PC components?
Ha ha the old "render in Iray preview, screenshot and crop" I still do that on some hard scenes with my 2080. I also have a 4K monitor.
The 3090 might have been a very good choice because the 4000 series look like their going to be huge judging by the 3090ti.... actually a thin card surrounded by a massive cooler shroud.
Be sure to post more stuff showing what the 3090 can do. Cheers.@frank22 Hello.. I didn't have to change any other hardware but I did already have a Seasonic Titanium Prime 1000 Watt PSU. I have a 11th gen intel I-9/compatible MB with 128gigRam but haven't converted over to it yet. I'm still using an old 8th gen i7 cpu / 1151 MB with 64 gig ram..
Everything works okay but when trying to play video games it sometimes shuts down. So I'm thinking about RMA'ing it. I only have a week left before things start to get more difficult in the return process. I knew that the 3090ti would be sort of gimmicky, as for the 4000 series I haven't read much on it because I don't really plan on buying a new graphics card for at least a few years. All I really wanted was the extra vram so I could pound out a bunch of large scenes fast without having to worry about it falling back on my cpu.
Right now I'm creating a cheesy 70's style sci-fi intro. Doing a lot of kitbashing to create a ship that looks retro but also giving my ideal interior because I CAN NOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME FIND ANYTHING THAT WORKS. 😀
ANyway.. I think I'm ranting and I don't even know if what I wrote makes sense. Just woke up.

I'm checking this hamiltonpl's youtube videos right now. I don't know what character generation (vic/mich 4 or gen 1??) he is using but he REALLY nailed all the faces.
Well, at least he got his wish. They released the blu-ray collection 8 months later.

Thank you for sharing your render. I like the model's face with a soft and natural figure. I think the clothing would warrant a bit more texturing for a fabric look. You should post on DeviantArt 🙂Is she of your own making?

The clothes were from a day one release of Gen 8 but it had micro-pressure morphs included and I really didn't want to have to use zbrush for a character render I would probably never use again (at least half-naked like that)
The character is my own creation with skin from..
Which has great subsurface materials.
I also baked in some other textures to her face but didn't really bother with the rest of her skin because I knew I was going to add DoF.
I have a deviant but it is angsty + pubescent SHITE. 😀 I did add this picture to it though.
