Big storage may be useful but there's diminishing returns. It's hard to imagine that when you get to 10+TB you'd remember all the stuff you have, let alone using more that 5% of it. My library is 850GB going back to 2001 and I have no idea what most of it is.

I'm looking at getting either a 6TB or 8TB for my new PC. That is enough for the next few years. I think either is enough for the next few years. Not all for daz3d either. Need room for some games also and other stuff.

There's a point at which something good and once funny degenerates into a sad navel-gazing parody, ie. just smeg. Season six (1993) “Out of Time” should have been the last. The following have been about as funny as a talking toaster.Big drives are great, that is if you can afford purchasing it twice for the backup.
Personally, I was never comfortable putting everything on one large drive for the fear of failure until I have a secondary ready. Thankfully because of my homelab days, I have so many systems laying around storage is never a problem for me anymore.
I have two WD My Book 8TB external hard drives, one that is about 2/3 full, but a lot of it is either stuff that I don't know if I'll ever get to use, some I know I will never use yet I am procrastinating about deleting, considering the search I have to do in order to find all the geometries, textures, datas, and sometimes even the Poser duplicates, the templates that I never use but are still there, the OBJ duplicates that end up clogging more space, etc. Pretty sure I could bring it down to 1TB, which is the max I had set from the start. Considering I started clearing up my characters folders, by dumping everything corrupt made by Color Galeria and all the horrendous ones made by bu_es, I think I might just go on and delete a bunch of stuff in the near future. Second one is my backup. I rather have a second drive that will protect my datas than one large that will blow up my entire stock when its lifespan comes to an end.
That's a good idea. The only reason I haven't deleted my old stuff is because I don't need the HD space on that drive at the moment.
My 8TB is running full with zip files, so contemplating a new HD.
I do not mind(well....) if the disk where my libraries reside crashes,I can always create new libraries if need be. Loosing all the setups I wouldn't be happy. Like you guys, it took me years to build up, and I wouldn't wanna download it again...That sound reasonable. I keep adding more stuff that I want to try, or that I think might come in handy at some points, and most of the time I end up adding hundreds of megabites for a few props or textures. If I could snap my fingers and get all those props into categories (furniture, food items, etc) and make what I dislike from these houses and apartments without a bathroom, and all these character morphs when all I want to use are their materials, I believe I could drop the weight way under the 1TB bar. Main problem right now is that if you want to do that, you'll spend hours going through each subfolders that are scatrered in your library folders, to remove one specific setting, its geometry, its textures, its datas, etc. So even as I am trying to get rid of stuff, I am condemned into keeping complete scenes or characters or folders of props with tens, if not hundreds of megs of stuff I know I will never use.
OK It has been a while since I took stock.
The beauty of digital hoarding is that it takes up little physical space.
The downside is that effectively you need twice as many storage devices as your hoard fills.
I have 3 internal drives. One small SSD which has just the OS on it, one 6TB & one 8TB
Then there are the 4 external drives 15TB,6TB,2TB & 4TBThere is still plenty of free space for hoarding, but I need to keep things organised.
Aside from the 3D stuff there is a lot of gaming resources too.
Every so often I replace one of the drives with a substantially larger one.After my Raid controller died I went around looking and it turns out that these docking stations are very highly rated by Tom's hardware and the IT folks from my workplace.
