Hello! If anyone here used newest Wrap X versions from Faceform (Faceform Wrap 2024 and Wrap 2023, do they require newest Windows 10 or not? I downloaded and tested Wrap 2024.11.10, posted here and discovered that I cannot run it on my system at all, because this software refused to launch without some file named api-ms-win-core-libraryloader-l1-2-0.dll My OS is Windows 7 x64, rather old but working well and I don't want to replace it with any Windows 8 or 10, it will cause problems with my hardware and drivers. I found this DLL, installed it manually both for x32 and x64, registered them, but no success. I tried to reinstall Microsoft Visual C+ 2015 package, containing these files and found that I have newer and fuller version of this package. None of these actions helped me to fix the launch issue. Then I googled for Wrap 2024.11.10 system requirements and found no official info, but sparse notes that the program needs Windows 10+, 8 GB of memory, OpenGL 3.0+. I decided to try an older version of Faceform Wrap 2023, but I havent found any reliable info about its system requirements. The package posted here on Zonegfx is huge, about 1 GB, and I wouldn't like to download it in vain with the same result.
So I'd like to know which version of Windows or Microsoft Visual C+ does this application require? I mean Faceform Wrap 2023.
Besides, I found an earlier version of Wrap - Wrap4d 2021, how much does it differ from regular Wrap? Can I use it on my Windows 7 or not?
Thanks in advance for answers.March 20, 2025 at 2:57 am #2122397You should've just sent an email to their support team directly...
Hey! I run Win7, will this program work on Win7?
But it's too late guess... I would assume programs made in the year 2020+ will not work on OS's made in 2009...
Hardly anyone here will be running systems with 15 year old soft and hard specs. Especially on a type of hobby where having decent and somewhat recent hardware is a key requirement. If you really want to stick with Win7, you might have better luck spinning up a VM with win10 or 11 and enabling GPU pass-through (if your hardware can support it). But even then your going to run into your own set of challenges.
Good luck.
March 20, 2025 at 3:13 pm #2122437Another way to go is swap your C: drive out for one with win10 on it. You'll get better performance than going with a VM. That way you can keep your original win7 drive/data as-is but still have the ability to run current stuff on your win10 drive.
Grab one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-BX500-NAND-2-5-Inch-Internal/dp/B07YD579WM/ref=sr_1_3
Then go here to get win10 and activation script: https://massgrave.dev/genuine-installation-media
After install, do your debloat and privacy protections: https://winscript.cc/
Now you can start fresh with software/drivers you couldn't run on win7.
If you're not familiar with massgrave, here's a post that answers some questions: https://www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/comments/1470wjh/how_does_mas_work_and_is_it_safe/
March 20, 2025 at 7:18 pm #2122448Thanks for tha answer, but I use old good Win 7, because it's much simpler for tuning, less buggy and very much tolerant to any illegal software, which I prefer to download in the places like here. At least, through more than 12 years of usage, I have never had any blocking problems with such software under Win 7. And I got used to the UI. When I have to work with Win 8 or 10 occasionally, it is very frustrating to me. In everyday life I use a notebook, not a tower PC, so I cannot add there any other HDD and the only option for me is usage of an external HDD with Win 8 or 10, although it's bit tricky. Maybe, I 'll try this workaround some time later.
As for Wrap, I found of the latest versions (Wrap 2023.10.3) which I can install and launch on my OS, but I cannot work within it (no selecting points or splines) because of their Python version. As I learned recently, formerly they used Python 3.8.3, which works with Win 7, and now they use Python 3.9.0, it doesn't work fully. Are there any earlier version of Wrap with Python 3.8.3?March 21, 2025 at 5:54 am #2122480R3DS is a possibility. The earliest version I found on Zone is 2020, although there's a Zbrush plugin version that's earlier, but that's not a stand-alone. I don't know the Python version or hardware requirements, but it's worth a look.
March 21, 2025 at 9:47 am #2122509Greatest thanks! R3DS Wrap 2020.12.2 does really work under Windows 7, and used Python 3.8. For me personally, it's the nice workaround, because I want to use Wrap for simple shape transferring for DAZ, so I need not any professional complex options. So far I tested it twice and it makes wrapping easier. And I can easily select point pairs in the editor, which I cannot remember in Wrap 3 and earlier versions. Although, it's a pity that newest versions of Wrap 2024 conflict with Windows 7.
