Some of the models give strange face markings on render.
I have read a solution to this on this blog ( was a sidenote on different issue)
Does anybody know what settings in the render tab are responsible for this?
August 31, 2023 at 12:32 PM #2020171I often get those when using an OOT hair asset. Reducing the hair size by 0.5% usually takes care of it. Alternatively, you could increase the head size on the model by the same amount.
August 31, 2023 at 12:44 PM #20201759 times out of 10, it has to do with the cap of the hair not fitting the character figure's head correctly. Add a Smoothing Modifier to the hair figure (and set it to collide with the character figure's head), and those lines/spots will go away.
August 31, 2023 at 1:59 PM #2020218the is a parameter in the hair (forehead distance or something like that) that reduce the problem... will try the smoothing modifier, too
August 31, 2023 at 2:22 PM #2020223thnx guys, but that was not what I am looking for. I remeber it was in the render tab, there were two settings you had to change, but as you know there are a lot of dials, an to find witch combination it is ....
Smoothing modifier is something I will have to look up...August 31, 2023 at 7:18 PM #2020311I know the setting you're talking about, it's instancing optimization. It won't help with this problem though as it's a different cause. (the issue that setting fixes involves things extremely far from the origin point, while this issue will occur even if the character's head is at 0,0,0)
This is 100% needing to adjust the hair's parameters (happens mostly with OOT hair products, I run into this problem with windfield hairs a lot as well and some expressions)

Figured out the smoothing modifier, nice tool.
It is a bit like Photoshop ...
You hardly use a fraction of the prog, until you need something done.
It is always a nice " ahhhh, so that's how they do that" moment.
Lots to learn still, but having fun doing so, and that's the main goal for me 😉 -
