Hi people, hope you are ok.
Sometimes when I'm trying to render a scene that has some figures using geometry shell, an error window appears saying that there is an error during rendering. Then is impossible to render because a window pops up saying that is unable to render, the renderer is already in use, which force me to restart daz 3d. Sometimes after restarting daz 3d the error is gone, but other times the problem persist and I have to restart again, and this process is a huge pain, especially when I'm using large scenes that take forever to load.
So, basically what I want to know is there is a solution for this problem and if someone else has this same error.
By the way I'm rendering in 3Delight, and the geometry shell that cause problems is this one.May 4, 2023 at 6:40 AM #1965854.. but what is the actual error that you get.. ?
.. it would be nice if you have more information about the error or a screenshot..
May 4, 2023 at 8:34 AM #1965895I haven't had this happen with any geoshells and are you sure they are the problem? As gladson says, you need to look at your log file to find the conflict. The "the renderer is already in use" might suggest that DS is still running in the background after not closing properly. After I close DS I nearly always have to kill the process in task manager before restarting.
May 5, 2023 at 5:04 PM #1966488Is this a geoshell or a shader? It has been created 10 years ago - which is a long time for software - so it might work better with a very old Daz3D version.
You could try to limit Daz3D to one core (Task Manager > Processes > right-click on daz.exe > Set Affinity) to avoid multitasking issues if there are any.
May 5, 2023 at 8:32 PM #1966546Thanks for your answers. Yeah, I'm using the button shader to have a comic style render, which works all the time, but the outline shader that comes with putting look bad in my opinion, so I add a geometry shell to the figures and then apply the outline shader to the geometry shell, which sometimes render without problem, and other times I have the unable to render error, which force me to close daz 3d and then close it from the task manager. Although it renders well, is frustrating that sometimes it doesn't work, that's why I wanna know if someone has the same problem. I have tried this in daz studio 4.21 and 4.12 with the same results in both versions.
May 6, 2023 at 11:32 PM #1967203Thanks for the advice. This is what appears in the log file after the render error:
[WARNING] :: src\sdksource\general\dztokenbuffer.cpp(1575): The token "float GlossinessStrength" already exists!
[WARNING] :: Script Error: Line 32
[WARNING] :: SyntaxError: Parse error
[WARNING] :: Stack Trace:

[WARNING] :: src\pluginsource\DzShaderSupport\dzrslshader.cpp(3071): Error executing render time file in DzRSLShader::setShader().May 7, 2023 at 11:26 AM #1967456'DAZ 3D/DAZStudio4/scripts/support/DAZ/rendertime/surface/dzDefaultAttribs.dsa' is a plain text file which one can open and the command in line 32 should be:
Shader.setStringAttrib( "identifier", "name", String("/%1/%2".arg(oNODE.name).arg(oOWNER.name) );
I don't think that the file itself is corrupt. -
