DeviantArtSubscription?

Hi,

I just came across this function at DeviantArt & was wondering if anyone has tried it out?
So far as I can see it functions similar to Patreon, but Paypal doesn't seem to be an option?

Anyone any feedback on this, please?

Personally, I wouldnt bother, the subscription for me didnt really add anything, but i dont sell or offer comissions for cash.
Sure you can do a more indepth search of your vistors, count, post more than one image and other functions.
Chuckles, It would depend what you wish to gain from a subscription.

I wasn't comfortable with divulging my credit card details to them & no Paypal option certainly didn't help with that feeling.

Years ago, before Deviantart changed hands and was overhauled, you could buy a three month sub with points and PayPal was there as an option too.

I returned to Deviantart two years ago after a long absence and it just isn't the same. I used to always buy subs and gift them too, and it did seem, back then, that a subscription had benefits. The whole site has gone to hell since it introduced eclipse and got rid of categories. I'd never waste money there now.

@littlepleasures I didn't know why the PayPal service was removed; I assumed it had to do with the takeover of the site, so thanks for the info.

It is particularly childish, gimmicky and depressing over there now. I remember back in the day; it was a proper art community and one where you'd get genuine feedback, make friends, improve your art and actually get some decent commissions. Now, the artists I admired and who helped me, have abandoned the site. Most have been gone for four years or more. I remember when I first joined back in 2009/2010; even my first crappiest pieces received engagement, tips and encouragement. It was thanks to the help I received that I progresseed to other mediums beyond photomanipulation and was eventually able to make some money off my art.

Then the changes started happening and I just quit the site, then re-joined two years ago. I check in there from time to time, but really haven't posted anything except stock images because the engagement just isn't there anymore.

DA was bought out by WiX in 2017 which has been turning DA into more of a mess.

Oh and don’t forget the confusion on the updated ToS/EULA that made it sound like WiX had full control over the art you uploaded on DA and could freely use it in their web site maker without you knowing.

I would say use ArtStation if you don’t use DA.
