It seems that it is becoming a common occurrence or perhaps it is just the particular items I'm attempting to download, but more and more often I clink on the download link, points are subtracted and I am taken to a 404 or deadlink page [usually Mega]. I report the deadlink and or ask for a new link from the original poster and NOTHING ever happens, The item doesn't get a new link, I don't get my points back and I'm out hundreds of points. Some of these deadlinks are even from admins on this board. What is the use of reporting deadlinks if nothing is ever done about them other than screwing members out of their points?

A couple of examples from yesterday:

CB Thyme for Genesis 3 and 8 Female

    CB Dalilah G3F & G8

How about a message from someone saying the issue has been resolved and a new link is now live or sorry that you were screwed out of your points, those lost points have been returned to your account?

I know in the grand scheme of things this isn't that big of deal, and it has been happening since I joined, but it seems to happen a lot more than in the past and can be a little frustrating sometimes.

Thanks for listening to my mini rant. Have a great day!

The main issue is in having the points deducted immediately that a link is requested - as opposed to being deducted when a download has occurred, or can be confirmed available.

    Any solution possible??? 🙂

have you tried contacting the poster direct and saying hey, I just spent points but your link is dead, that way the poster can either reup the post or repay the points quicker, then if they dont just do a public post stating the dead links and the points owing to you, mentioning the persons name to grab their attention. I myself am guilty of having mega take down some of my posts and as I don't monitor that email as regularly as I should, I dont realize that I have duped someone

Generally it is only the 'Main' members and posters that bother to reply with fresh links or refunds.
There are a number that can always be relied upon [I would like to consider myself one of them].
Others never reply - and sometimes it is too much bother [or the item has been forgotten about] to chase a few points, even after submitting a report.

But still nice if a system could be developed that only takes the points when a download can be confirmed...

Why do people feel compelled to comment on a subject that they themselves boast means nothing to them? Instead of providing something useful to the conversation; they throw shade on people who are concerned about the loss of points. I guess I must be an extra special member, because I don't get 200 "fresh"points per day.

    @Haven Hawkes
I don't get 200 a day either, that's only for "new users". Once you reach either a certain amount of time, or points received, it drops to 100 points per day for "site visit", plus any points for items that you've uploaded getting "purchased". lol

@hhawkes how are you reporting the dead link? I tend to find that if I report it using the little reporting function at the bottom of the page, Monk or Tomsk sends through the refund within a few hours.

Automating this functionality might be a bit difficult with the awful anonmize thing between us and the download link (I understand the necessity, I just find it annoying), since it would be harder for the system to click through and there would be other ways of doing it to just scan the raw link but that would defeat the purpose of anonmize and would also depend on the text on the other end of the link always being worded in a similar way to be able to compare it to known versions of 404.

Maybe @monk or @tomsk can shed some light?

I agree with Morri, I reported the link that seemed did not work properly once before, and @Monkseye and @AnjaBear answered my questions very quickly. They were very nice, helpful, and eager to help me to solve the problem, so please report the dead link to them directly.

Just to add to this, the return of lost points comes from @Hunter as neither I or Monk or Tomsk have the ability to return points taken by the system - however, I have on occasion returned lost points to people out of my own personal account. We are trying to fix reported broken links as quickly as possible but it is indeed a manual process.

Normally the person who finds a bad link, must report the broken link at the item's page in the blog by REPORTING - and telling us what is wrong - bad link, broken link, wrong link etc. This report is also sent to the person who posted it, telling them what is wrong with a link back to their post. The original poster is able to fix the issue by using the reporting option to replace the broken link, with a new one.

Here is where the issue comes, many original posters cannot be bothered with this, and they ignore or don't receive the messages that something they uploaded is broken. So they don't respond. We do not get a valid link to replace the broken one with.

We try to give the original poster time to send us a fixed link, but if they don't all we can do is close their post down. And let someone else upload a good version. And the points have to be sent to those who did not receive the product starting at the date of reporting it as broken. This is time consuming to chase after and it is, as I said before, only Hunter who can return points.

Just so the process is clear to everyone. I would suggest that if you run into this issue - contact the person who uploaded the item to the Blog page and tell them, and ask them to Fix it, chances are they will get your PM if they didn't get the report alert their product is broken.

Hope this explains things a bit?
