Ah..I see there was a post from 'Alex' iirc which has been deleted.
An account presumably from a leeching paysite.
That has skewed the thread.
He she was being snarky about the way the site was being run having uploaded nothing at all in 3 years membership!!

September 27, 2020 at 11:21 AM #1631407Then, please, when posting - It is ironic that the snarky post above this
Make sure it is the one you mean [better to accurately name and shame, than cause unintentional offense]And sorry for picking on you - but only reacting to what and how it was printed. 🙂
September 27, 2020 at 11:23 AM #1631409As I said it was aimed at a member with a deleted post from the thread.
I had no way of knowing the post would be deleted.

September 27, 2020 at 1:06 PM #1631426Not really your fault.
Understandable under the prevailing circumstances. 😉October 2, 2020 at 11:25 PM #1632658I used to get points back when I try to download something but it has a broken link. Now when I report I no longer get my points back. So what I started doing it finding the lost file online and reposting an updated link to the file. I was losing a lot of points for missing link items to the point I had to do it.
I started to see the Repost Dead Post, but I not sure I want to use it because I don't get back the lost points I wasted on the item I didn't get to download.
October 3, 2020 at 8:30 AM #1632685The biggest issue with this, is that the points are always taken before the download attempt.
But there is no 'automatic' return of points if the download fails [file not available etc.].
As mentioned by many - the reporting does not always get the points returned either. i expect many, after a while, give up expecting them to be returned - even forget which item it was.
If the OP is no longer active, the points still go somewhere [?].
Collectively there can be a lot of points taken from members that they never get back. Individually you might not worry about 50 points - but multiply that by all the failures.....
Either the current system does not work, or is being ignored [by all].The return of lost points should be made as effective as the deduction for getting the link, if the DL cannot be completed.
October 3, 2020 at 9:06 AM #1632688I don't think it would be possible to automatically verify whether a download has been successful.
If you make it a manual splash screen asking 'Was your download successful?' that would be wide open to abuse.

Very true, on both points.
But unfortunately abuse works both ways.
Such as 'paying' for a download that does not happen, and reporting it but getting no response - from anyone..... 🙂 -
