For the record I always render in 3Delight, mostly because I love the results, but also for the speed and the fact that my pc would give up the ghost if I tried rendering in Iray hehe.

The process should work well with Iray as long as the textures support Iray, or have been converted. Maybe the textures you're using aren't configured for Iray?

Following the tips I left above, textures will always appear well messed up until you hit that final 'apply' button.

For my example above I literally just loaded the textures right from the character folder, I didn't manually apply normal, bump or anything.

I should note that the only original G8 textures on the figure are her eyes and eyelashes. I added them after all other steps. Love the new Aiko 8 eyes 🙂

It was mentioned above that you could apply the textures you like to V4 and save them as a Material preset, then apply them to G8 or any gen figure. I have only ever done this with some V4 textures that were listed as hierarchical textures, these only load on their native figure as far as I can tell. I used them on a G3 character, the only drawback with using them as a material preset is that once you apply them you cannot change them, such as swapping the makeup or eyes, so you have to be sure to save the preset as you're going to be happy with it.

Using a material preset is just simply loading the preset then swapping the figures UV map to match V4 etc. I have most of Recicup's alien girl textures saved this way, some you could see on my DA page, and below.
