If Genesis 8 clothing is genuinely selling 85% less as someone claimed, then it is because Daz chased those shoppers away by producing the trash that is Genesis 9.
I believe the bulk of people buying Genesis 9 right now are fairly new to Daz, thus people who would be buying the newest Daz products because they do not know better. You might have some of the old die hards who will buy everything Daz puts out until the day they die, but they are a dying breed.Genesis 9 is NOT new. It came out in 2022. If Daz acts like they used to do for Genesis 1, 2, 3, 8, then Genesis 10 is coming out this fall, just a few months from now. Genesis 8 was the odd ball, the only Genesis generation to last longer than 2 years. So going by their history, Genesis 9 is on its last legs already. You will not be getting much content once Genesis 10 arrives. A lot of people hate Genesis 9, rightfully so, and will be ready to ditch it the moment 10 releases. And then you get to go through the fun of starting all over again with a new figure if you plan on keeping up with Daz.
You can still find popular vendors selling Genesis 8 content in other stores beyond Daz. Some vendors made clothes for Genesis 9 and then almost immediately switched back to Genesis 8 because G9 was not selling so great after all.
If you look at the Daz store right now, many of the clothing makers are pretty new in that store, while a number of old timers who made quality content have left. Not only that, but many of these new vendors are foreign, perhaps living in places where the cost of living is not as high as the US. All of the new content is designed ultra cheap because they are making very little money on anything these days. Daz has taken a quantity over quality approach for years, but now it has become even worse. However, there have been days when there are no new product releases in their store. Considering how much Daz desires quantity, this is a further sign that they are struggling to get vendors to keep pumping it out, even with such low standards.
July 12, 2024 at 12:46 am #2082867I've always suspected that some of their stuff is produced by digital sweatshops in Asia or India somewhere.
I don't see a G10. They've taken so much flak over the constant figure release that they're going to come out with something 'revolutionary!, Game changing!, Unique! It'll be a massive flop (think NFT's and their own version of AI) and will force Tafi to try and sell Daz, even if it's at a loss. I will have just won 2.3 billion in some powerball lottery and will buy Daz and make it what it should be.
...then I wake up from my dream....July 12, 2024 at 12:31 pm #2082896If / When G10 appears, I sincerely hope they drop the androgenous base figure, in favour of G10F & G10M.
It doesn't work well for G9 & it didn't for G1 either.
Also they will need to be better optimised as a base figure.
I don't know why they created G9 with variable resolution & then went ahead with still selling HD morphs? Kind of pointless.Do away with the variable resolution, which will improve optimisation & then sell the HD morphs seperately, like they used to.

July 12, 2024 at 1:22 pm #2082899IMHO the only reason G9 would be selling more is most people already have G8 stuff and G8 stuff is being suppressed. That's almost like a movie studio saying their sales are up because they brought thousands of tickets.
Ive been messing with G9 and have yet to feel like its worth investing a ton of money into. Not that I buy a lot but if I did I wouldn't change. If anything G9 would probably make me want to join the pirate community or totally ignore new Daz content and find people that support G8. If you've chased your G8 fan base away and all that remains is G9 people then that would probably increase your percentage but not your profit.
G9 feels like a man in drag and I'm trying to preform digital surgery on to change his gender while remnants of him still remain.

Thats dedication. Id be to busy spending money to worry about what Daz was doing
July 12, 2024 at 7:06 pm #2082947So you’re assuming because you can't find a slutty version of a work uniform, Daz doesn't think women belong in the workplace? That's a very looooooong stretch.
Real life uniforms ARE oversized and unfirmed by design. They do it intentionally not to sexualize the woman who wears them. Nowhere in the world a police force will have a slack uniform version for male and skin-tight pants version for females. That's not a real thing. Thats coming from fantasies (movies, games and what not)
July 24, 2024 at 7:09 am #2084104I can't see Daz continuing to be useful in the near future. Even people that know how to use it don't want to use it. The animation tools are horrible. I'm hoping to publish my current WIP game and then switch to animating using spline or attempt a real time game in UE5.
TBH Daz is really only useful as a hobby at this point... it's like digital legos. Wish they would improve the base program but that is never going to happen.July 24, 2024 at 7:26 am #2084109DS is at its best with single frame renders.

With that much money, I'd just hire real people and have them wear clothes I specify, then pose for me in custom vignettes that I'd pay someone to build on-location.
Wait, you wouldn't?

Isn't that called a movie?
July 25, 2024 at 1:26 pm #2084296Merely calling it a "movie" is sooo pedestrian! XD
(dang. we could use some emojis up in here... 🙂 )

I shoul'da been a fashion photographer instead of doing technical stuff. Then again, it might have been too much for me. All those stunning ladies in gorgeous clothes...? *sigh*

And if in wedding dresses you'd be in paradise 🙂 .July 25, 2024 at 10:41 pm #2084366*chuckle*, Kara (LP) and I where just talking about that over in Discord. The poor models where taped and the clothes clamped so that they looked as if they where a perfect fit but from only one direction...the camera view. The long, wide skirts where pinned to the floor to hold their shape...heaven forbid that a model sneezed. The photog had to get it right the first time.
