Their sales promotions are way too complex, and conditional.
I am sure they would have more successful sales promotions, if they kept it simple & easy to understand.
October 11, 2024 at 9:41 am #2095033I can't remember the last time I used one of their coupons. Probably several months ago.
October 11, 2024 at 1:38 pm #2095060@gelstat, Ok now I get it. I read the post before you added the rest of the pictures. When I need to do this stuff I visit my old electronics lab where I used to work and use the tools there. Are you making your own harnesses? They look pretty neat.
October 11, 2024 at 2:31 pm #2095072Saw this and 2 things:
1) This is just preparing people for the inevitable: moving Daz Studio with the still-vaporware DS5 from a fully free model (with paid add ons) to a subscription only model... with paid add-ons.
2) Their attempt to do NFTs backfired so spectacularly on them to the point where this is a last-ditch effort to recoup lost revenue: notice how they pretty much memory holed the NFT debacle (especially after the disastrous Game of Thrones drop that even the chuddiest of cryptobros laughed at and said they didn't want). And the AI backlash has likely also hurt their revenue, too.
I'll admit, it's tempting. If only for the converter.
Side note: I got banned from the forums for speaking my mind against the AI abortion they launched, but after taking a glance at this new program I gave it a shot... only for it to say I needed to contact support to upgrade. Guess they don't want my money after all.
October 11, 2024 at 2:41 pm #2095073I probably hold the record for the number of times being banned at Daz. I can still buy stuff but my attempts to say anything on the forums are never posted. I rarely buy anything from Daz anymore and when I do, it's gets shared here quickly. I'd like to hold off on sharing for at least a month so that the creator can make some money but I now know that Daz inhales most of it so there's not much point. My hope is that creators move somewhere else.
I don't believe that Studio 5 will ever happen. They're gonna drag the ancient code along forever.
If it ever does come along, it'll be crap because it'll have been rushed out without proper testing. It will also be instantly pirated.October 11, 2024 at 8:40 pm #2095102OF COURSE THEY WOULD LOCK CONTENT BEHIND PREMIER AS WELL!
https://www.daz3d.com/blog/filatoon-shader-and-genesis-9-toon-shapes
"If you’re a Daz Premier tier member, you’re in for an extra treat. Premier members will automatically unlock the Vicky 9 Dark Elf Shape Add-On, available for download via the Smart Content tab in Daz Studio Premier for the duration of your subscription."
someone needs to subscribe and take one one for the team!
(it's another FOMO tactic as well as a DRM tactic since it's only for subscribers AS WELL as for a limited time! expires october 23rd)
October 11, 2024 at 9:15 pm #2095109I can't understand why you're surprised by this. This was always predictable with Premier and I'm sure there will be plenty more to come.
October 11, 2024 at 9:19 pm #2095110@Frank22 I’m not surprised, but concerned about content not getting preserved in time. Yet the issue is how it gets distributed. Like it claims it’s only through DAZ Connect (yes, they’ve brought it back if what they are saying is true) and not DIM because it’s via subscription through your account.
But if it’s like the plugins, it’s available through DIM, just they prefer downloading it through DAZ instead
October 11, 2024 at 9:57 pm #2095119The more I hear the less I like it.

October 11, 2024 at 9:59 pm #2095120@eelgoo it is confirmed to be the dreaded DAZ Connect Encrypted Content... tied to a subscription... for a short time...
looks like we lost if this is what DAZ is heading towards
October 11, 2024 at 10:01 pm #2095122plus this will confirm that DAZ now tracks content since it's tied to an account.
if someone here does have an active subscription, to check if any info is kept within metadata.
October 11, 2024 at 10:05 pm #2095123I think that is a matter of perspective.
We have oceans of content available, and varying degrees of competence in various iterations of Daz Studio.
If Daz is moving away from a significant proportion of it's users, that is their problem rather than ours.
There are other sites that provide new DS content of arguably better quality.
🙂October 11, 2024 at 10:09 pm #2095124One thing I’ve been seeing is that many people are letting their DAZ+ subscription expire. Basically they are protesting this by doing similar tactics to other controversial decisions like Artstation and Unity. In the end, decades old users are leaving the community.
DAZ literally gave the middle finger to their long time userbase and will definitely loose more money lol
October 11, 2024 at 10:26 pm #2095127Yes, I think you are correct there. :0/
October 11, 2024 at 11:24 pm #2095136Yep I am one of those. My subscription runs out in April. I'm going let it go. Most likely. One thing that annoys me that there is no more yearly membership.
