So, you plugged in your best of the best Genesis 8.1 character with the latest XYZ Textures microbumps and everything (these are used in the industry a lot) and you are excited, ready for a photorealistic render and you get...great results. Or so you think...

The model (let's say Victoria 8.1) has unconvincing low detail skin and low details even when forking the extra for the HD add-on. You spend (without discounts) $44.95 (V8.1) + $39.95 (for the HD add-on) = $85! to get this:

So, what's the problem? It's all low detail!

Impossible you say, it has 4K textures and the HD Add-on!

Well, here is what you get for almost the same price ($97): [This was rendered in a real-time engine btw]:

Wait what? Where is the catch?

    Here it is:

    1) 16K textures (DAZ uses 4K)
    2) Actual HD geometry:

    DAZ Garbage HD:

    3D Photoscan

    3) Subdivision: Up to 6! vs Subd 2 (G8.1)

    Good post.

    For those interested.

You can add the 16k textures mentioned above to DAZ models and they would still look poor when rendered in DS.

It's best to take Genesis to another studio app and do all the work there if you want realism. Blender is a good start for free.
