With UE4-5 becoming a mainstay in game development I'm currently seeing more n more uploads of UE content. For those looking for such they have the "non-daz/poser content" filter but for those of us who only want daz content there seems to be no filter exclusively for only daz stuff. Am I missing a setting to filter content or am I correct this filter doesn't exist?
May 21, 2025 at 11:48 AM #2129669As a user of both softwares, I also think there should be a filter, as most of the time I'm using the site for Daz only.
If people were consistent with Tags this wouldn't be an issue but a Filter would solve all the sorting inconveniences.May 21, 2025 at 2:37 PM #2129683GLWT
Better organization was requested several times over several years.
On the up side its still free
May 22, 2025 at 1:37 AM #2129755It would be nice. I just scroll past them, whenever I look at what is posted on the blog.
May 22, 2025 at 5:05 PM #2129826Didn't we grouse about this a few times in the past already? The blog is missing a few features, not least of all this one. Filter, sidebar categories, whatever, it's something practically every site of any kind has had since the dawn of the web.
@joeli - yes, and recently it's become skipping nearly whole pages to get to other content. I love that all sorts of "other" is appearing, not loving so much how hard it's becoming to find things with the existing filters.

Yep, the Compatible Software and the Post Tags fields are usually ignored because they're not mandatory. I have to admit I ignore these too for that reason. If they were made mandatory it would give warrant63 a whole lot more work to do along with the usual missing SKUs, descriptions etc.May 23, 2025 at 11:43 AM #2129888A properly written input page would validate all fields, preventing the user from adding a post without mandatory fields. Category choices are provided from a dropdown, not user's imagination, enforcing uniformity. Web Design 101 stuff.
May 23, 2025 at 11:52 AM #2129890This is a recent phenomenon. Until a year or so ago, 99% of the content was DAZ, so it really wasn't necessary to have a search function to find it.
Strict enforcement of tagging would fix almost all these issues since the current search function relies on tags. But since things are tagged here by the uploaded, it will never be consistently applied in all cases. For example: since Unreal assets can be imported/exported into DS, an uploader might consider a UE asset as DAZ.
May 23, 2025 at 5:26 PM #2129938You're confusing Tags and Filters, they're two different things.
May 23, 2025 at 6:43 PM #2129953afaik, most search filters rely on tags (often considered part of the metadata) to refine search results (take DAZ's site for example). Another option is to filter with the search engine reading fields that it has been programmed to look at (pretty much the same thing imo), where the uploader also puts in the data.
I doubt the admin or techie mods here are going to take the time to write code to validate the tags or metadata of uploads. But they would probably be open to someone else doing it if it doesn't break a bunch of stuff.
May 24, 2025 at 12:15 AM #2129971Yes, Filters operate partly on Tags, but really they operate on Selectors (think Categories).
We have Tags, which the user may or may not add, and may or may not be "accurate"... and that's sorta fine. Tags are to find a specific thing.
We also have Categories, but here they seem to be treated as tags (or I should say, we're using Tags as Categories, and that's unhealthy), and these are neither enforced nor filtered usefully. Categories are useful to include or exclude (Filter) content from a search or browse. Without enforcing content categories, there's no practical way to make the browsing/searching experience useful. This is a design choice, and is basically a first-day homework assignment that should take under an hour to add to your post page. What actually takes a little effort is the design choice itself; what categories make sense in the environment in question, and what fields to enforce to make a uniform experience in that environment. Once that is decided, a little HTML/CSS and a text file that a potato could edit is all that's really needed. Someone with a backstage pass could add a record or two to the database if that's needed, but that really shouldn't, the bits and pieces already exist here, they're just not being leveraged usefully.AFAIK, Zone is a heavily modified WordPress instance with some custom plugins, at least that's what I remember Tomsk telling me.

Is the site that flooded with content that its difficult to manage the massive steam of files coming in?
May 24, 2025 at 11:42 AM #2130011Good ol' Tomsk. He is missed.
May 26, 2025 at 2:42 AM #2130178@d0gg0d - not really, it's basic stuff. I wonder what would happen if I rewrote the site and made it functional? I certainly don't have the time or resources to run it myself, and I'm guessing Admin here wouldn't adopt it...
...fun to think about though. I'm perfectly willing to help on the tech end though.
May 27, 2025 at 12:33 AM #2130296It does kind of irk me when I search for something, only to be met with a host of iClone and Unreal assets. Some are exactly what I'm looking for, but my system can't handle them. I'm running Win 10 on a reconditioned Dell, which can barely handle certain Daz assets as it is, so it kind of sucks to see an amazing environment; only to discover that it's a non Daz or Poser asset and there's no way my PC has the capacity to deal with it. Believe me; I've tried. I, too, would prefer if assets were listed accordingly. Sometimes, you have to wade through a lot of the aforementioned to find a Daz or Poser equivalent.
Photoshop, however, I like, and it is a popular post work medium for renders.I think that there aren't enough assets being uploaded here; particularly LUTs and actions.
